Your story is just too freaking cool! It is reading like an Indiana Jones movie with all the mysterious clues and maps and such. Nicely done. And the Mouth of Hell is also Amazon's Gate? Neat!

Great start to a fic. I sense there is much more to go in this story. Is this what you have been doing instead of updating the next part of Lady Liberty? That is a wonderful fic. I hope you have time and imagination to continue that soon. Nothing new has been posted since Nov? Have you written some and just not posted it yet? Thanks for all the writing.

Intriguing begining. Okay, looking at that prophecy: Esplandian's coast would most likely be California. It's 1999 so I doubt if the "key" is Dawn, she doesn't exist yet. The references to Indy are obvious. The English keeper of the book is probably Giles, but might be Wesley. Is Buffy the "defender of the heart?" Could the Amazon's Gate be the Hellmouth?

The Key is not Dawn; as you surmised, this takes place during season 3 when she did not yet exist.
As for the rest - spot on, though I'm wondering where you found Esplandian so fast...
