Wow. This was really well done. The plot idea is original and and the character voices are really strong. I was riveted from the very beginning. About the only detractor was the length and frequency of the flashbacks. there were too many or too long. It made keeping up with the present-tense continuity a little difficult. Actually, the real detractor is that this story seems to be abandoned, which is a shame because it has so much promise. Hope you plan to continue.

I think this story is off to an excellent start and I hope that you will update it really, really soon, because I want to know what happens when Xander finally gets to Angel. ^_^

I just reread this story, and I love it, especially the interaction with Spike. You've managed to make him need Xander without turning Spike into some kind of pet. He's been driven to the end of his rope, but he still held on. I like this Xander sooo much.
I just reread this story, and it's still gripping. You have a wonderful sense of pacing - each little hint or confirmation of a plot twist is perfectly timed...
