Review of chapter "Family Issues XXV and Epilogue" from DeepBlueJoy
Review:
Was delighted to rediscover this from a post on the forums. I seldom reread anything because of how many stories I've read and how many more I have 'unread'. That's by way of a huge compliment. Not sure if I ever read the sequel, but here goes.
This is one of the earliest stories I read, so you're part of my being hooked on this site, which makes you partly responsible for my becoming a fanfic author. Hope that's not too heavy a burden to carry!!! :-)

This has Nermal levels6 of cuteness while still being a good story. Thanx!
Comments from author:
The kitten? Yes, he's slightly overkill in this story, and total overkill in the sequel.

Well, this was a very funny and enjoyable story. You really had a yen for hurting Warren. Though, it makes perfect sense within your story.
I also had to admit that I had no idea who April was seeing when you did the big reveal.
Comments from author:
Hurting Warren is always fun - he's only himself to blame, of course.
Glad you liked the reveal at the end, I had fun with that one.

Okay. After this chapter, I'm pretty sure I know who Sheila Rosenberg was turned into. Which is also the same reason that Sheila Rosenberg adopted Willow in the first place. We'll see if I'm right.
Chapter XIII - Yep, I was right. Good clues. Nice surprise that she was also the vengeance demon. Also didn't guess the multiple iterations.
Comments from author:
It did get insanely complicated in there - but I think time travel always should be complicated, if it's too simplistic it's too much of an easy fix.

Dear Marcus L. Rowland , I just recently finished rereading 2 of your stories , ( Family Issues & The Rosenberg Inheritance ) both great reads that I here in highly recommend to all readers of this site , I would like to suggest that your MUSE have a re-look at the above two stories & see if a follow on 3rd story would be possible .

Comments from author:
Thanks, but I have so many unfinished stories, and so little inspiration for this, that I really can't see writing another any time soon.

Review:
The fact that you came up with this story based on such a minor detail as that dead Prince’s human name that so many people could have overlooked is just one of the many things that makes this story so brilliant; nice job.
J and K’s interaction with the Scoobies was generally effective- barring the question-mark about K’s reasons for not killing Spike during their last encounter; if he’s interfering with alien activity while aware of them you’d think that would be a neat loophole-, and my personal distaste for Buffy/Spike aside character dynamics among the Scooby Gang were generally effective.
Plus, of course, your ideas about the circumstances that lead to April becoming a completely independent person were excellent; making a minor character into a major figure like this can be tricky if done incorrectly, but I certainly can’t fault what you’ve done with her here, even if the circumstances that led to Willow creating this timeline were a BIT complicated even for a Dr Who fan like myself to follow completely...
Still, all in all, a lot more straightforward than most of your stories with some very interesting twists for various characters, including Warren’s final fate and April’s new relationship; keep up the great work!
(Just one minor point; ‘J’ is based on the fact that his first name pre-MiB was James, while his surname was Edwards, rather than it being his surname as you implied)

Thanks - glad you liked it.
Hadn't realised the error in names - I'll put some sort of correction at the end.

"She was kinda killing him with kindness," said Willow.
"Yes, and a stake!" April said cheerfully.
Comments from author:
When I wrote this I expected that line to get a lot of laughs, but I think that you're the first person that's ever mentioned it in a review.
Many thanks!

A very fun read. Only minor quibbles on the MiB side of things, which didn't distract from the fun of reading. I'm going to have to start following your work on purpose now. :) Thank you for writing!
Comments from author:
I'm guessing your quibble is that the MIB people work with Buffy & co. so readily?
The big problem with MIB fic is that they usually erase everyone's memory within minutes of meeting them - that really doesn't make for a good crossover, so I had to work around that and find reasons for them to work with others without destroying their memories. If you like, think of it as the spell changing their attitudes a little.

This is the first time I’ve reviewed one of your stories I’m very sorry it’s taken me so long. I’ve recently recommended this one and I’ve finally got the time to review it. This is a marvelously inventive crossover idea I can’t wait to get into the real meat of the story to give you my thoughts.
