I like this fic, it captures the same feeling as the end of the of the After Life episode, when Buffy's telling Spike that she was in Heaven and this world is Hell.
But I have a issue: Buffy does know French, from when she was a noblewoman during the Halloween episode.

can i say this is very sad,i almost cry, i have something stuck in my throat but i hold it in. i haope you continue and reunite jean-claude and buffy.happy writing
Quietly poignant. I liked the line about Spike taking care of Dru and thus understanding 'what was never meant to be understood'. Also, Buffy taking Spike's cigarette. I loved all of it.

First off, I'd like to throw in another vote for them getting back together. When, where, how, and why she ends up back in the Anita-verse is something I'm sure you'll have a better idea for than me.
I would like to see some of Buffy's time in 'heaven'. I would really like to see the beginning of her relationship with JC; their first meeting, if you can swing it.

I love it. I really think you should just make it a sweries were they eventually find each other again or something. It's well taken and a tad poetic. I love the value that you've given french, (although I know nothing of the language) and I really do hope you continue this. I love all ur B-centric stuff.

Nice one, and your translation is pretty good. Better than LKH's if I may say so myslef. I love the Anita Blake series, but some of her french lines are translated word-by-word. Never a good thing.
I don't mean to be a pain, I really don't, and I really like your story.
(In case you wanted to know. Present tense conditionnel of devoir is: je devrais, tu devrais, il devrait, nous devrions, vous devriez, and ils devraient. And you don't need the "ne" in your sentence since it generally works in conjunction with your verb. "Je t’aime comme je peut, mais pas comme je devrais."
This is the absolute last thing I will say on French, I promise. Please hurry with the next part; I really want them to be reunited (fingers crossed here, people). And soon!!!)
Coolness. Please tell me she gets to go back soon.
For the record, do you speak French? I would've thought "comme" was the word for "like." "Je t'aime comme je peut, mais pas comme je dois." That's "I love you like I can, (or as I can) but not like I must (or as I must.) For should, you have to go into some weird French future tense (I think). This is just the basic present. (Pouvoir = capability, devoir = duty, or necessity, something that must be done.)
I'm really happy you decided to continue this story. I love your way with words; their emotions come across so well. How long will it be before she and JC can be reunited? Or actually, how long before she gets to go back to the other world? Because I doubt their reunion will be simple or easy. I will keep an eye out for an update.
