Review of chapter "Grave Mistake" from DeepBlueJoy
Your take on the trauma is spot on. It's funny, I've just finished a chapter of one of my stories that refers to Buffy being in her coffin. I think every person who grows up in a society that buries the dead has at least some fear of being buried alive, but for Buffy, it's double or triple... First she had experienced it before and had a traumatic fear of it and repeating it is enough to cause PTSD and permanent harm... but she also had been yanked from a place of perfect peace... she called it heaven, after all... to go from that perfect place to being inside of a coffin... that is hell. You captured it very well.
Btw, the episode in season one is called Nightmares. Lucky 19 is what the abusive coach called the boy in the coma.

Good. Very interesting take on the whole digging herself out. It's so unbelievably stupid of the scoobies to not dig her up first. You'd think that after all the years they waited for fledgings to rise, they would have thought about that. Stupid Scoobs. Anyway, great one-shot.

Wow. This is a really good bit of writing -- and one of the scenes we _so_ should have seen in the show. Odd that they never addressed the fact that this was one of Buffy's biggest fears, and her friends _knew_ that she had that for a nightmare. (They couldn't have at least removed the dirt from above the coffin before the ritual?) Of course, I would also have liked to see a scene in the show where they apologized to Buffy for doing this to her...but Scooby apologies were always few and rather insincere! Thanks for giving us a bit of a look at Buffy's pain, and Spike providing a shoulder to her.

What the Scoobies (and especially Willow) did to Buffy was horrible...
Comments from author:
that is exactly what i thought. then i saw the replay of that episode, the one i think is called 'lucky 19,' and it hit me suddenly that leaving her in her grave in season six wasn't just an oversight. it was the kind of thing that breaks people. the kind of trauma that people don't just recover from in a day or two. yes it was an accident but buffy was still forced to live through it
