*headdesk* I really, REALLY hate when this happens. This is such an excellent start to what will obviously be a really good story and it's a crying shame that the plot bunny seems to have stranded you high and dry after only that short bit.

If you like, you can join me on my rabbit hunt. I've got the turnips, carrots and herbs all ready to make plot bunny stew of the bunnies who have run out on the story before it's finished. My own recalcitrant bunny is at the top of my target list and it would be no trouble to add yours.

Seriously, though? I still do intend to one day get back to this. The problem is that my brother went into the Air Force and took all his DVDs of the various Stargate seasons with him, and I really need a refresher on some of the episodes of season 7 before I launch fully into this. Season 8 did a number on my affection for Carter as a character, and I need to be careful not to let that seep into my portrayal of her here. Not to mention, there have been other, shinier plot bunnies dancing along that were much easier to get into, so...

I always say that I never give up on anything. And I fully intend for that to remain true.

I really, really like this story. It's very true to the characters. I hope you'll be writing more soon.

But why did you post is as new story rather then as new chapter to the other Slayer-Sam story?

Fascinating that the Slayer dream was specifically focussed at a location literally lightyears distant. The implication is that Sam ISN'T a Vampire Slayer, but rather a protector of innocents from non-human threats. Were the "devil dogs" intelligent, and thus evil? Or were they just animals?
I wonder if any of the other new Slayers will be called to guard the 'Gate, instead of fighting the undead... Or will they be activated on other planets, perhaps as Sam visits?

I loved your original drabble - I've read it several times, and thought about it a lot. It's terrific that you are turning it into a long story.
