Lovely Daria fic, but a bit of nitpicking on real-world situations: It's really rather unusual that Xander got shot in Zimbabwe, or that Mugabe was referenced at all in accordance with it. Considering that he's not a farmer, if all he was doing was informing girls of their destiny he shouldn't have been in any danger from the government. An irate villager, maybe, but not the soldiers. Mugabe's soldiers are only after the farmers that refuse to accept their compensation and give up their land for redistribution.

Being a grandchild of the white farmers of Zimbabwe, and the niece of one who left his land peacefully and was treated respectfully by the soldiers, the misrepresentation of the country grates a little bit. I do love your writing, but small things like that tend to bring my reading experiences to a screeching halt.

Of course, at the same time it does represent the typical American opinion of Zimbabwe, so I guess you got that right, but I'd like to think that Xander would be a bit more educated, having been there. Great fic though!

Very nice. Not sure how or even at all a Xander/Daria relationship would work but I am most definitely interested in seeing it attempted.

I'm going to need to revise this story--the S&G reference was all wrong. I think I'll make it the Tower of Babel instead.

I do have a plan for some, but I am slow. I mean, my Flatland and Gunsmoke stories need work. I have found my outline. The relevant parts include

"Inspired Negotiations" [unwritten, S10] - The WCI hires a lawyer to negotiate a peace treaty. It's too bad demons are rarely peaceful. It's really too bad about Helen Morgendorffer's dress.

"Inspired Ceremonies" [unwritten, S11] - Getting Xander and Daria married is more of a military expedition than a religious ceremony. It's amazing how many demons a successful WCI can annoy. And, the Powers compound their worst mistake.

These tie in to some of my non-crossover stories. Father Abernathy and the SHS Memorial service are in "Community". The Gnarg tried to assassinate Giles in "Permission". The end of Buffy and Dawn's stay in Rome comes from "Keepers in Rome". The problems with Faith and Robin's mixed relationship are evidenced in "Eighty-Sixed". She's a Red Sox fan, you see, and he's a Yankee fan.

Other stories I'm adopting for this future history are non-crossover "Lack of Vision", "Icing Model", "Like Mark Twain", and crossover "Literary Vengeance". Other story ideas cover the two weeks after S7, the battle with W&H, and the cosmic battle of "The Final Settlement" when the Slayers visit judgment upon the Powers.

I don't know if the non-crossover stories are suitable for posting here. People got really angry with "Lack of Vision": that one's about the vision Cordelia did not receive before a beautiful September morning six years ago.

I love Daria, wish they would put it out on DVD. Loved your story. I could just picture the whole thing in my mind.

More Daria fic is a good thing. Not sure about the slashing, I honestly do see them as true friends and not lovers, but I can accept that some people see their relationship differently. Love the idea of Daria going to work for them.

I don't see the slashing as anything permanent. It's just something for right then. Faith's inspiration, as it were.

It's good to see Daria is still out there. The only other crossover between Daria and Buffy I have seen before was one that had Willow and Daria being related, what with the whole Jewish thing. Unfortunately that was the only part of the story that went anywhere.
Yours however fit the characters and left the option for a follow up (hint hint).

You'll find a couple of BtVS/Daria crossovers on Outpost Daria. In one, Buffy gets killed and Daria has her usual luck. In another, Brittany gets the nod.
