I just wanted to let you know that i absolutly loved this. I know im going to sound sappy but i almost teared up a couple of times. Mash has allways been one of my favorite shows and the way you wrote hawkeye and the rest was very true to them. I actually had images of them flashing through my head as i read. I stumbled on this story and am very glad that i did so. You're awesome and thanks for writing this.

I just had a sudden yen to re-read this, and it's just as smile- AND tears-producing the second time around. Thanks again for giving Hawkeye and Margaret and Radar such a useful and hopeful 'retirement'.

This obviously is based on the TV series rather than the books.
Three books were written by Richard Hooker, the original author: MASH, MASH Goes to Maine, and MASH Mania.
The ones co-authored by W.E. Butterworth were mainly written for laughs, the first one was MASH Goes to New Orleans, then it went a lot of other places.

I don't usually like drabbles. They are way too short. But, this author managed to use a minimal amount of words to tell an absolutely fantastic story. Dr. Hawkeye Pierce, scalpel at the ready, saving lives again. I loved the inclusion of Radar, Margret, and BJ's daughter Erin too. Hawkeye was the epitome of the lovable snarky old guy, and he made a great hero in this story.
