Review of chapter "The Very Long Night of Kara Thrace, Part I" from lunalurker
Review:
Another great start, and the plot threads were just getting into an interesting if confusing tangle of possibilities, which I think means I still have no idea where things were going to go yet, and it didn't look good for a lot of people, but I was having a lot of fun following along. So consider this another vote to continue this someday if you can, and thanks for writing!

Wise,
you should really complete this version and the one on Fanfiction.net. I like both of them.

For someone who isn't very knowledgable of either SG or BSG universes, this is quite an interesting story. It's quite a pity that it no longer seems to be under progress.

Review:
I just read both this version in its entirety and the new edition that you are posting on ff.n. Very interesting tales, both of them, and while some of the core components of this one are easily recognizable in the rewrite, they are clearly two different stories. I am most definitely awaiting the next version of the new one with baited breath, but does it mean that you have abandoned this version? I for one hope not, as I would be interested in seeing how *both* stories unfold. One question on the rewrite, though: are you completely dropping the Buffy cross, as well as Cassie and mini-Jack? Or are you simply changing the way they are introduced and used?

The only quibble I have with either version, and it actually applies to both, is that your BSG timeline is a bit off - based on what you say in the story in terms of chronological setting - shortly after leaving Kobol the second time, between the eps "Flight of the Phoenix" and "Pegasus" - we should be in the 70-90 days post-attacks range, not the 6-7 month range (which would actually put it closer to "Lay Down Your Burdens") - I do not remember the exact figure, but Helo only spent 60-odd days on Caprica - and then the next sequence of episodes follow extremely close on top of another. Also, for the new version, if it really is between "Flight of the Phoenix" and "Pegasus", the Pegasus should be a lot closer to catching up to Galactica, considering they do so in the very next episode. It strains credulity to think that they stayed put for two months (or longer, according to your current day counts) recovering from the attacks, with the type of person Admiral Cain is and the ship she runs.

That being said, though, I absolutely love the inclusion of the Pegasus, which I fell was underused in canon, and simply love to see more of, and despite my above-stated timeline quibble for the ship, I am glad to give them as a crew the opportunity to not have things play out as they would in canon (execution of Col. Belzen, abuse and abandonment of the civvies, etc.). My suggestion in that regard is to add some explanation as to why they moved so much slower "out of the gate" then they did in canon.

This really is a great idea and story! I wish you'd update soon! It'll be really interesting to see how Willow and the others contact the SGC to try to speak to Kara and Cassie. It'll also be interesting to see how Kara is reunited with her people.

I really like where the story line is going. The story itself is well written and flows easily. Looking forward to continuing updates.
Personally, I think I might enjoy having Buffy get involved in the events on Earth.

Intriguing concept so far, I have to admit.

Not sure about your decision to make Kara and Cassie Slayers, of course- up to this point it hasn't really DONE much for them short of giving them the ability to hit a bit harder than normal-, but given that it looks like you're about to bring that side of this story into the equation sooner rather than later I'm willing to wait and see how it turns out before I decide once and for all how I feel about it.

Besides, what you've got so far has definitely been worthwhile reading; the bit where the Colonials rescued an Asgard and had to fight off a bunch of Replicators made for a VERY interesting 'First Contact' for them- even if they nearly screwed up finding Earth by torturing Jack's clone before confirming if he was a Cylon or not-, and I have a feeling the introduction of the 'clone' Kara/Number Thirteen (Although you could have also made her Number Seven; it's been stated that the Final Five don't have model numbers and they DO 'jump' from Six to Eight for no apparent reason) should make things even more... complicated... in the long run.

So... given the revelations in this last chapter regarding the results of Kara's tests, will we be learning anything more about the connection between the Slayers and the Ancients any time soon?

Keep up the good work!

This story is very well done - I'm enjoying it and am waiting patiently for more. You did a fine job of not getting the three continuities muddled.

Is Cassie really in the Air Force for her future or just to fight the Goa'uld?

Fortnight's two weeks. Jack'd probably know that.

But overall I like it.

Doh!

It seems that the version I posted is missing a crucial word which is in the final draft: half.
Eh.

Jeez, is everyone a Cylon now? I don't actually watch battlestar galactica, so I don't really know if Kara is supposed to be one, or even how to be one really... Anyhoo, despite how confused I am, I hope you'll update soon!
