I know the feeling of plots running away from you. I'm a Cordy/Xander holdout, but I can be convinced of pretty much anything, really, for most of the characters. With the exception of Willow/Oz and Buffy/Angel. Diehard to the end. Anyway, I liked this chapter. It was well-written and I didn't have to suspend disbelief about anything.
