It's beautiful written. Have always been a Zoe/Wash fan, but I could start shipping Zoe/Mal now because of the story. The beginning of their relationship taking form to something else then friendship in a brother and sister manner.

It's very well written. I like the sentiments. One note though, I think it should be the crew would be back to seven, not eight. Wash and Book are both gone for good.

Perhaps you didn't notice the part where Mal thought, "Simon would be back before his little 'un made her own acquaintance with the world"? The eighth might start out as a very tiny person, but she'll be a person all the same. =)
