Man, I don't know what to make of this one - right up to the revelation of slayers' bodies self-destructing, I found this a compelling and interesting alternate take on the Council. Sad, and dark, but quality. The horror from that revelation on succeeded in being plausible, but it pretty much ruined things for me. It's just too much. Maybe that's the point, but I would have much preferred a different direction there.

This is a wonderfully grim spin of the Slayer mythos that ages well, and is every bit as haunting and enjoyable in subsequent re-readings. Excellent work.

Very dark, but very well written. Giles is not going to be happy with Travers. And it might have been better to tell htem all what Buffy's fate might have been. Very well done indeed.

Oh how Horrible! Poor slayers :( you've put a very human face on the watchers council but at the same time I would like nothing more then to run Travers through with a knife. Poor Buffy.

Unique & very well thought out idea of what the Council is and what the true chance of "normal" might be for a Slayer long term. It isn't dark, its harsh reality and as you called it, "bitter truth."

Sadfru:: "On a side note I would have liked a watchers report detailing the utter anhilation of the Vamp/Demon horde in Europe, in a clinical and british manner mentioning in passing her demise, let the girl go out in a bang"
Hey, if that means Buffy solves the problem in Europe and dies in a blaze of glory, leaving the new Slayer to patrol the Hellmouth and interact with what remains of the Scooby gang I'm all for it :D

Wow! That was incredibly depressing and yet incredibly well thought out and crafted! I was already impressed with you from the "Normal" series, but this just ratcheted up the admiration I have for the way your mind works. Keep up the good -or rather "great"- work...just please, please, please inject a little bit more fluffy-bunniness into future stuff :-) I much prefer happy endings!!!

That was really intense. The way you could see Quentin's brain work and the weariness that you inject so perfectly into the tone of the piece. As the story moved along, there was an increase in the heaviness of the tone, like a burden. You show excellent control of the writing elements and amazing intuition when it comes to human emotion. The sorrow and inevitability of a Slayer's end is so well painted here. Just awesome.
