I swear I remember reading a version of this sans Willow some years ago.

I really liked this. The characters were honest and sensible, and behaved the way they actually would, right down to Jayne resisting River as long as he did.

If anything was a little tough to believe, it was the M/I/W0Xq relationship -- Mal is far too traditional to accept it as quickly as he did -- but it was a good trio and I can buy the tree of them together if I try hard enough. :-)

Overall really good stuff.
