You have done an excellent job with this story and I hope you get inspired to write a sequel where we will be able to experience Dawn and Milton's further adventures in a different dimension.

Gasp! It's done! It's finally done! And it was AMAZING! TOTALLY AWESOME! It was REAL great. I had lots of fun reading it. One of the bestest fics I have ever read. You're wonderful, very talented. ^_^ You'll always have my support!

That's an excellent end to the story, not what I expected but it works well. Many thanks for completing it.
Later edit: Not really sure how I expected it to end - but I don't think leaving the dimension came into it!

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your review mentioning Giles helped me write this particular ending. I had it planned like that, but I thought I'd use the Fortress of Solitude, accessed through Dawn's portal-opening-Key-blood, but it was better to involve the Watcher.
I am extremely happy that I was able to complete it. The story turned out better than planned, yet some of the chapters ended up less impressive than I had them in my head.
How did you expect it to end? I'm really curious about it. I would love to imagine another ending. As long as it's a happy one. :)
Again, thank you for commenting on the fic as it unfolded. You're one of the reasons I managed to complete this story.

Oh Man. I've been waiting for an update on this fic, and was so excited to see this. I loved the ending. Having the Other fall under Dawn's "spell" was so great. Could this have been a continuation of the Monk's spell? So that, someone who had prolonged contact with her would love her and want to protect her? HMMM, something to think about. Are you going to write a sequel? Tell us where they went, and describe their "happily ever after"? Adding in all of the good parts of course.

Thanks. Glad you liked the story. I'm afraid I don't have it in me to write a sequel. Unfortunately now I have a plot bunny for a PWP Faith/Milton Fine fic, but I'm trying hard not to give in. He's Dawn's and that's that.
I thought that he was changed for one thing because being in human form made forced a little humanity in him. My explanation for Dawn's effect on him is that they're similar technologies, but I read somewhere that technology you can't understand or explain is as good as magic. Might be a Stargate thing, if you know the show - the Goa'uld portrayed themselves as Gods by using advanced technology that seemed like supernatural, god-like power to their subjects.

A bittersweet, but very satisfactory conclusion. Thanks for such a "life"-affirming ("life" in whatever form, natural or artificial or supernatural) resolution to this love story.

Thank you. I love happy endings, but I couldn't manage to give them the heroic saving the world thing. that's Clark's job, and Buffy's job. This story turned out to be so much more than the porn without plot I intended it to be. I guess I just don't like porn without love. I read a lot of Terry Pratchett lately, and it helped me deal with life and death in a way I hadn't imagined before. From Pratchett I borrowed the concept that form shapes essence. When the Braniac had to shape itself into a human body, Milton Fine started to exist. You can't walk, talk, pretend to breathe, to eat, to have a heartbeat and not become a little human.

This is GOOD! You really know how to keep both the romance and the suspense going, and I love the way you described Dawn's "bluff" and the way the Other Fine was being affected by her.

Love the story. Thanks so much for updating. You make me almost want to get Smallville on DVD and watch. But it would only have a little of Fine and no Dawn :{

Review of chapter "Chapter Seventeen" from RevDorothyL
Review:
This is excellent! I love the implicit parallels you've drawn between the paradox of a soulless vampire being able to selflessly love and a supposedly soulless A.I. being exposed to all Dawn's interdimensional energy and breaking down the walls of his programming to discover a self and at the same time the capacity for true selflessness. Wonderful stuff (as well as VERY hot).
I can't wait for the next time you're able to update this wonderful story (not that I'm nagging or pressuring you, or anything like that!).
