Review of chapter "Sarabande" from (Past Donor)CallmemasterKent
Review:
Wonderful. Skillful and well thought out. You understood the characters and moved them through the dancing steps with ease.

Cheers,
MJ

Review of chapter "Sarabande" from Chaos
Review:
Wonderful story! I loved how the Goblin King came onto the ship and showed everyone that River wasn't as crazy as they had previously thought.
Comments from author:
Thank you. Jareth is great for pointing out that reality is only as good as your imagination.

Review of chapter "Sarabande" from (Past Donor)Mari
Review:
There are so many really exquisite bits that I don't really know where to start. A few I particularly enjoyed:

"She wishes she could explain in a way he could understand, but his thoughts only bend in lines." This is such a good description of the way River seems to see the rest of them--especially Simon (and, by the way, having him pause while he gets out of bed to be amazed at his appearance--sooo in character.)

The owl infestation exchange, that finally comes to a close with ""Did you know, some birds will vomit in self-defense,” River said. . . Mal moved back towards the wall, looking upwards warily . . .“Though that’s technically only true for turkey vultures, and they never left Earth-That-Was,” River added, finally opening her eyes." I could see that exchange happening, and just had to laugh.

Yet another good part--"Simon poked Mal in the shoulder. “Are we going to let the crazy man dance with River? This is…wrong.”" Yes. An owl appears out of nowhere, changes Mal's gun into a goblin, and changes into a person, and what does Simon focus on? That Jareth might be taking liberties with River. Hee. And Mal's response about wanting to stay Malcom Reynolds . . . Such a matter-of-fact response to a matter-of-nonfact situation. Perfect.

Even the end was just right. "“Er, disregard that. This was just a drill. Everything’s fine. No owls, no goblins, everything’s fine.” . . . Mal mumbles, “Doc, your sister is fine. The crazy owl-man is gone. It’s late. I’m tired and going to bed. And when I wake up, there are going to be no more goblin guns. Ever.” . . . River nods eagerly. “No more goblin guns. I’ll make him promise.”" The conversations this group will be having later--well, you brought the fic to an appropriate close, but an outtake or two would be appreciated, should the mood strike you.

Your grasp of the different voices and realistic character reactions really made this fic. I'm going to quit now, because I sort of feel like I'm fawning, and really, fawning is never good.
Comments from author:
Well, fawning might not be good, but this review has totally made my night. I'm so glad all of the characters felt right, and sounded right. I've written smaller Firefly pieces before, but this was the first longer one in that universe.

Thank you!

Review of chapter "Sarabande" from iroshi
Review:
I love the way you write River's mind. I can feel her thoughts, but I can't always understand her words. It works perfectly.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I really enjoy River as a character and I was thrilled to do something longer with her. A nice change from the plague of ficlets I seem to be doing these days.

Review of chapter "Sarabande" from Gaeriel
Review:
That was quite a story. It makes sense in hindsight that River and Jareth would work together. Thank you for that, and the wonderful imagery and language.
Comments from author:
You are most welcome. It was nice to write something of length again, and particularly with two of my favorite characters.
