Review of chapter "Absentee Dad" from CameronYoung
Review:
That was kinda amazing. I don't know what else to say other than it was awkward, brutal and real. It really got the feel for the movie and then rebuked it. Good job.

Wow...not what I was expecting (I thought Tucker might be Andrew's imagination). This was even better! Your dark tone for the story matches the movie nicely, and I kept waiting for Andrew to come to a bad end. A lot of authors used him as a throwaway character, but you've done a great job with him here. Great dialogue and pacing.
I really like this. Andrew's all growed up and now he's helping Tucker. The idea of Tyler as their father is brilliant because it would explain SO much. Good work.

This story is great. I agree with this not being in your Evil is Relative story. It kind of less silly and Tyler isn't really "evil". I think a sequel would be cool. You could set it after the end of the movie and the narrator (they are his kids right?) seeks them out.

Very cool. It is nice to revisit Andrew and witness his emotional growth. You have written an Andrew that has found his strengths, and who is not being guided by what is the "in" thing - exactly what Durden was trying to accomplish. Durden's vision was crippled by his mental instability, so your Andrew has accomplished more than his father has.
You are Jack's kick ass story. ;-)

I liked this story but was it really Tyler who was the dad or umm the uh narrotor guy which one of them was in control when the Wells boys were fathered
Maybe it's darker but there's something about Andrew in this that's damned sweet. He doesn't need their father because he has 'real' family through the slayers and the scoobies. Now I'm wondering if Tyler left the boys in the hope that when he popped up later they'd be so emotionally starved for 'family' that they'd follow him anywhere?

Wish there was more to this story than just one chapter

Should this have been part of that evil parent thing? It was good. I loved Fight Club.
Comments from author:
I was writing it for that, and then it turned kinda dark and angsty and didn't really seem to belong next to Dr. Evil's robot shark anymore, so I just put it by itself. I'll probably write another parent story for Andrew for that series, something lighter.
I love Fight Club too. I was surprised how "bad" Tyler ended up, but really if you take him away from the narrator he'd be pretty scary crazy... as opposed to funny crazy :) Also, I dicovered the levels I could go with Andrew! I'd never really thought about it before, but he's an angst fountain if you let him go.
