To avoid that rather unfortunate canon death. The person who I wrote it for wanted a happy ending and I didn't want to go completely AU. So, this was a good stopping place. =-)

I was skeptical that you were going to be able to make Wesley work as a Winchester cousin, but I think you pulled it off. I especially like the placement of this within both canons. Now I have an insane desire to see a fic where Wesley joins up with Sam and Dean on their hunts.
