Review of chapter "Just Not Cricket" from MissE
Review:
Speechless! When I'm not sniggering at the thought of George the Terrible, and his cricket bat!

Blue recommended your stories in a forum post, so I thought I'd wander over and have a look (and wondered why I hadn't read your work before.)
Comments from author:
Thank you! Actually I prefer the sequel to this one.

Ha. I can't help it, but the end is so logical even if you ignore the AU of it all. One thing that bugged me about the show was the implausibility of never encountering a vampire that uses guns. I understand Joss wanting to stay away from this, but once Xander stole the weapon to destroy the Judge it became pretty clear that manufactured arms beyond crossbows could be made viable against the supernatural. (as they have in the tv show 'supernatural').

I don't remember this George but that doesn't really matter. Very clever indeed.
Comments from author:
Thank you! The Gorch brothers certainly should have used guns against the Slayer; of course that might have made the series rather short.

The character that I called 'George' isn't referred to by name in the 'Fool for Love' party scene, and is just referred to as '3rd male partygoer' or '3rd aristocrat' in the transcripts.

Thank you! There will probably be more in this series eventually, but it will be a long way off.

Well good morning,
Another fine and funny story. Well done.
Glad to see someone else thinks vamps might use firearms. Just think, they'd have an awful lot of time to practice in, they'd all be very good shots.

All the best,
Dave T.

Thanks! Glad you like it.

I can see why vamps don't use guns as a regular thing - it's putting themselves down on the humans' level, not using their advantages of superhuman strength - but someone who is pretty much the opposite of Spike and who just wants to kill with the least risk to his own person wouldn't pass them up IMO.

Pfffft. And a good day of cricket it was too.

Although I must admit, George sounds the type to use an elephant gun, which poor buff should have seen comming.
Comments from author:
He used a Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver on this occasion. He certainly would have used an elephant gun if he'd had one handy, but his weaponry was dictated by what he could take from the bodies of victims, and elephant guns are rather thin on the ground in America.
