Starting in the time between BtvS Season 2 and BtVS Season 3, the Iron Coin Chronicles follows Xander Harris as he uses the Iron Coin, given to him by The Jester - who is just interested in amusement - to figure out what Fate has in store for his friends - and then try and stop the things that he thinks need to be stopped. But change isn't always good, and things can just as easily become worse as better by changing the future.
Fate never made any plans for Xander. Maybe that was why he was always able to screw with their plans for everyone else. The Jester, an Agent of Chaos, certainly thinks so.
