The old man’s Request

The old man’s Request

One day while Raven was on duty, a strange older gentleman came and asked her if she would sit and talk with him. Raven said she would, and then they found a quiet table in the cafeteria. From the beginning she sensed that there was something familiar about him. Raven could not place him. The man had medium length white hair, he wore a patch over one eye, and he had goatee.

“Thank You for taking the time to talk with me today, I really appreciate it.” He told her. His story was not pleasant. He had lost his family due to his own neglect. He had forgotten them in his rush to become the best. He had hurt others. He regretted this very much. He told her how he was dying now, and that there was a way to save his life, but he was not interested because the price was simply too high. He would rather live only days, than to live to see 100 in a life that was on the wrong path. Then he asked her a favor” Raven I ask that you listen to me before you turn me in to the police, or your friends.” adding that her secret was safe with him. He paused for a moment and said “Raven, I am Slade Wilson. I have also been called he Terminator.

Waves of emotion washed over Raven, as she heard this revelation. Finally she came to a decision, “You have one minute to convince me that I should hear you out” she said in a flat unemotional tone.

“Raven, this is the amulet your father gave me when I served him. I want to give it to you. Without it, I will be dead in days. “He said.

“I’m listening” she said and then asked “Why if it is keeping you alive, are you willing to give it up? Why give it to me?”

“Because it has been taking all the good and gentle things in my heart, I am giving it to you because you have fought your father’s evil all your life, and it will be safe in your hands. It could be of use for a lot of good, but only in your hands.” He answered her.

Raven thought about it and said “Put it on the table and go before I change my mind.”
