Why I Stay (1/1)

Disclaimer: I don't own Buffy the Vampire Slayer in any way shape or form. The narrator is an orginal character of mine. If I did own Buffy, there would be more dancing!

Summary: The older brother of one of the activated Slayers reflects on why he stays around.

Author's Note: My first attempt at the art of the drabble. The idea came from a character from the BtVS RPG I made: the Slayer's Older Brother. The effects of the spell to activate the Slayers would change a multitude of families. I wanted to explore this. As for the drabble, it was much harder to craft this with 100 words than I thought it would be. It's set Post-Chosen. I hope you enjoy my little experiment.

You asked me why I stay.

Why I do odd jobs, help with research, sharpen weapons.

The monsters came after my sister first. Killing mom and dad. Almost killing me. She slew them all.

I went with her to Cleveland to meet Buffy and her friends.

The Eldest Slayer. The one responsible for saving my sister and killing my parents.

I offered to help, to stay close.

I watch her train, knowing this night could be her last.

“You protect your little sister,” Dad always said.

Her life has changed, become far darker.

I protect her by helping the rest.
