Dawn chewed her pen as she reread the translation. *All these years, and you’d think the Council would have someone else who could do Sumerian. Nope.* At least the International Council of Watchers (Reformed) let her take texts to her flat instead of confining her to the Council’s library.
One part of the latest passage was frustrating her. ‘...person leads the song...’ *Yeah, like there were rock stars in ancient Sumer. A priest, maybe?* The context was still not right.
Dawn glanced up at the television, on but muted. It was worth the extra money to be able to watch basketball from the good ol’ US of A. The Lakers were down by 12, but it was just the end of the first half.
Lakers Girls. Dancing. Cheering. Dawn scribbled furiously for a few moments.
Dawn stared down at the translation on the notepad in front of her. ‘Save the cheerleader, save the world.’
“Damn, I wish Angel’d had this four years ago.”
Dawn quickly finished off Council Form 3B for Prophecies, carefully marking the boxes ‘historical’ and ‘prophecy fulfilled.’
