Holtz looked behind him and smirked as he left Angel by entering the portal and removing his son from his grasp. He turned his attention forward and his smirk changed to a frown then to a look of horror as the portal bucked and twisted like a living creature. A moment/eternity later he was spat out upon an alien landscape and he looked around still clutching the baby to his chest.

At first he didn’t register the creatures creeping out of the shadows and approaching him, but when he did and got his first good look at them, he felt his heart stutter with strain and a great rushing sound crashed through his head.

“Nooooooo…..!”

The creatures crowded around the fallen man whose heart had given out so abruptly.

Gently, a green, fur-covered arm reached out and picked up the baby who was just now waking up. It settled him against a soft belly that was covered with a four-leafed clover and he smiled up into a cuddly face.

A soft giggle sounded. “Well, I haven’t seen one of these in quite a while. What should we do with it, Good Luck Bear?”

“I’m surprised you have to ask, Sunshine Bear. This is Care-A-Lot; we’ll care a lot for it! Pity about the man, though...”
