Buffy sat by Frodo’s side as she always did in the after noon. It had been a week and still the hobbit had not woken up.
Sighing Buffy stood and made to leave she had other people to see, and other things to do. Though she wished she could she could stay here all day as she had done the first few days.
Sighing again Buffy bent down and kissed Frodo on the forehead and exited the room.
Outside of Frodo’s room Buffy ran into Gandalf.
“Ah, Buffy, there you are. I thought I would find you in with Frodo. Aragorn is looking for you,” Gandalf told her.
Buffy gave him a small smile. “Thank you Gandalf. I will go find him.”
She was surprised when Gandalf pulled her into a hug. “There is no need to be strong all of the time, Buffy.”
“Thank you,” Buffy said sincerely hugging the wizard back.
Buffy walked away toward were Gandalf had pointed her. When she came to a stair case, Buffy sighed. Lifting up her dress she descended the stairs.
She could no longer hide the small bump that was forming on her stomach. Her hand maid Endiel had so kindly pointed out this morning that the dresses only made it worse. Buffy kindly told Endiel that it was none of her business.
She was getting used to wearing the dresses at least, and she kind of liked them. They were not as bad as she thought they would be.
Pausing Buffy listened to the voices ahead of her.
“So it is true then?” Gimli’s gruff voiced echoed down the hall.
“Yes, Gimli,” Legolas answered him.
“I’m going to be an Uncle; can you not see it right now? Uncle Gimli,” Gimli said proudly.
“Yes, I can see it,” Legolas said, laughing.
“Ah, how I will love torturing the laddie with this!” Gimli exclaimed.
They both looked up at Buffy as she rounded the corner.
“Would there be a chance you didn’t hear that?” Gimli asked good naturedly.
“Not even the littlest hope,” Buffy told him, smiling.
“I suppose congratulations are in order?” Legolas asked.
Buffy smiled. It was good to have friends around. What would she do if she didn’t have them around to liven things up? She would go insane that’s what.
Smiling Buffy talked to them for a little while longer and then continued on her way. She looked everywhere. Where could he be? Finally she looked in their bed room. It was a room with white walls and a large bed.
“I once had a dream about this room,” Aragorn’s voiced sounded from behind her, startling her.
“Really?” she asked walking closer to him. She wrapped her arms around him and looked up into his grey eyes.
“Yes, I was holding a beautiful baby boy, and you were blooming with a second child. You are so beautiful. I wish you could only see yourself from my eyes,” Aragorn told her.
She smiled up at him. “And you are the most hansom man I have ever met, well no the Eomer, he is very good looking. I think he may rate higher then you,” Buffy told him playfully.
Aragorn pulled her closer, trapping her with his strong arms. “That wasn’t very nice.”
Buffy looked up at him with a pouty lip. “I’m sorry, you Highness. I didn’t mean any disrespect, your All Mightyness.”
She lowered herself to the floor at his feet.
Aragorn chuckled and picked her up off the floor. “Your place is never on the floor, it will always be at my side.”
Frodo became of a soft bed under his body. Slowly he opened his eyes and saw Gandalf. This was the first time he had seen Gandalf since Moria. Smiling Frodo laughs.
“Gandalf?” he says sitting up.
Gandalf laughs, and looks truly happy for the first time in since he came back for Moria.
Frodo laughs again when Merry and Pippin ender the room.
All three hobbits laugh with joy as Merry and Pippin run and jump on the bed.
“Frodo!” Merry yells.
Frodo looks up and sees Gimli enter. “Gimli!” Frodo yells. The dwarf lets out a loud laugh and walks farther into the room. Legolas follows.
“Aragorn.” Frodo greats when Aragorn enters.
“Buffy!” He cries as Buffy follows behind the smiling Aragorn. Frodo opens his arms for Buffy to hug him. She runs forward and grips him tightly.
Sam is the last to enter, his face like Frodo’s is still scuffed up, and he has a wary look in his eye, that matches Frodo’s perfectly. Frodo and Sam exchange a knowing look and then Frodo smiles at all those around him.
Everything would be fine. They would all live. It was a happy ever after. If you believe in such things. If not then it is just the ending that it is, these people have suffered enough for so many life times. They will all live, and they will live will. If not on middle earth then in the West. ”And thus it was, the Fourth Age of Middle-Earth began, and the Fellowship of the Ring, though eternally bound by friendship and love, was ended. Thirteen months to the day, since Gandalf sent us on our long journey, we found ourselves looking upon a familiar site. We were home.”
”How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart, you begin to understand there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts go too deep… that have taken hold.”
”Bilbo once told me, his part in this tale would end. That each must come and go in the telling. Bilbo’s story was now over. There would be no more journeys for him…
