THE CITY OF ANGELS

******
Buffy lay looking up at the ceiling in her room at Angel's Hotel. Sunnydale was a big crater in the ground. Countless slayer where died and so was Spike.

That stupid, dumbass vampire that annoyed her so much, was gone. The kind of gone that never came back she would never here his chuckle or see those stupid black shirts that he always wore. How was she supposed to feel? He died no knowing how much she loved him. She had told him and he had said thank you. THANK YOU.

A soft knock on her door let her know there was someone there. Sighing, she did nothing, just continued to lay there looking up at the ceiling.

"Buffy?" Angels voice rang out.

Buffy turned her head to look at Angel. She had loved him so much, still did. That part of her life had been over for a long time however. She gave him a quizzical look, one that said he had better talk fast, because she was not in the mood.

"Buffy, I think you need to get out." Angel said softly as he sat down on the bed to and looked into her eyes. His heart went out to the women he had loved, still did if he was to tell the truth. "Why don't you just go out and dance, or you could go kill something."

Buffy thought about it for a moment, then shook her head no.

"I know you love dancing Buffy, and killing things. I know you, I know that it will make you feel better. So I have made the decision for you." When Buffy just continued to stare at him he grabbed her up and hauled her to the door and down the stairs. "I knew that you would say no, or I thought that you might. So I have decided that I will come with you to make sure that you have some fun."

"Will I ever laugh again, Angel?" Buffy asked softly as Angel lifted her over the passenger door on onto the passenger side seat.

"You will, I promise you will," Angel said softly as he started the car.

"When?" Buffy asked quietly some time later as she watched buildings whiz by.

"When something is really funny, you will laugh. I don't know when that will happen for you. It will happen though." Angel pulled the car over outside of a night club. "Go on, have fun. If you aren't having any in the club then there is a cemetary down the block and to the right. I have to go and talk to Gunn."

Buffy opened the door to the car and walked forlornly toward the club.

Once inside Buffy found that Angel had been right, dancing did help. She felt more alive. She could breathe again. She wanted more. Buffy let her body sway to the music, pushing off another man that tried to dance with her.

The high from dancing could only last so long however and soon Buffy was restless. Seeing a door out the side Buffy headed that way. A bright light gave her pause. "Oh shit no wa-" Buffy was cut off as she fell through the portal. The people all continued to dance as if nothing happened.
