Office Advice

“I do not like her.”

The slow curving of Tony’s mouth only succeeded in deepening Ziva’s scowl as he leaned back in his chair, balancing his upper body against the back-rest as he crossed his arms over and behind his head. Said head inclined as he watched his partner’s spine stiffen and she crossed her arms, hip cocking in agitation.

Dark brows slopped down, Ziva’s scowl slipping into a snarl as she prompted, accent thickening, “How can you stand her?” She spun on her boot heel, stomping back toward her desk and adding, “How does Gibbs?” under her breath.

“Dawn Summers is an acquired taste.”

“One you are intimately familiar with, I’m sure.”

A scoff spun Tony’s chair toward the stairs leading down from the Director’s office and his smile widened as he watched Summers’ blue eyes narrow on Ziva. He turned, watched his partner lean forward, planting her hands on either side of the leather blotter gracing her desk as Dawn offered, “Please, Tony would lose an important part of his anatomy if he laid one finger on me.”

“You are not interested in him?”

“Not hardly.” Tony’s brows dipped toward one another as Dawn finished descending the stairs and before he could remind the two he was still in the same vicinity as them, Dawn continued with, “’Sides, big sis is totally with the crushing and I don’t poach.”

He leaned forward, arms coming to rest on his desk as Tony’s interest perked. “Big sis?”

Ziva’s eyes narrowed on the willowy figure of Dawn as she came to stand between their two desks and offered her one last warning, “Involvements with coworkers never ends as it should.”

“Of that I am abundantly aware.” Dawn dipped her chin in acknowledgment of Ziva’s advice before turning to Tony with an arched brow. “Stay away from Buffy.”

Tony’s eyes widened as he eased out from behind his desk and moved to stand in front of Dawn, tone almost eager as he asked, “You’re sister’s name is Buffy?” His smile widened, stretched into lecherous territory, “Was she a cheerleader?”

The smack to the back of his head came out of nowhere and Dawn stepped back as Tony stumbled forward and he ignored her smirk as he turned around and offered Gibbs a weak raising of his brows. “Sorry, Boss.”

“Don’t apologize to me.” Gibbs settled himself behind his desk and nodded to Dawn before continuing, “You weren’t mocking my sister.”

The silent order dropped Tony’s shoulders before he turned, ignoring Ziva’s amusement and addressed the team’s new Probie. “Sorry, Summers.”

“No big, DiNozzo.” Her smile turned beaming. “And she was a cheerleader.”

The End.
