Disclaimer: Not mine.
There’s some Jason/Anita in this one. No more than in the series. Still no pairing for Dawn. It’s coming, I promise.
Dawn's stall tactics had stopped working.
She had managed to keep him ranting about what a pansy Angel was for the better part of an hour, but he had seen through her prompting eventually.
Not before she had managed to work one arm out of the rope tying her down, though. She'd have pretty serious rope burn the next day, but at least she might be alive.
Angelus was clearly ready to get down to business. With a wave of his arm, the minions left, leaving her alone with the one thing that had truly terrified her. She wasn't sure she was strong enough to do this.
“Little Dawnie grew up and filled out,” he remarked, running a finger up her bare stomach. He ran his finger over her scars, before grabbing a knife and repeating the motion. The knife was so sharp she didn't know he had actually cut her until she felt the wetness of her blood dripping down her stomach. He had not made deep cuts, but his meaning was made.
She shuddered visibly, and tried not to throw up or cry.
Angelus clearly had not gotten any smarter, as he had tied her to a wooden chair. As he continued to caress her stomach, she tried to work her other hand out of her bonds. He was so wrapped up in feeling her body, in his success in catching her, that he didn't notice her struggle.
She gasped as he forcibly ripped her bra off.
The cell phone came falling out.
“When did little Dawnie get so sneaky?” He asked, crushing the cellphone to bits of plastic.
As his hand touched her breast, all thoughts of waiting it out, of hoping Willow finished the spell, of saving Angel, disappeared. Her only thought was to get out unscathed.
With the strength of a little old granny whose child is under a car, Dawn broke the back rung off of the chair and used her still-tied hand to slide it forward through the space between her chest and arm, impaling Angelus as he moved in to lick her neck.
With an undignified squeak of surprise, Angelus exploded into dust.
Exhausted with the effort, Dawn sank down into the chair and tried to figure out how to finish untying the rope holding her onto the chair.
Anita, Jason, and the scoobies found her still in the chair when they burst in 15 minutes later.
Jason ran to untie her, drawing her close, and holding her tight.
“Where?” Anita asked, always aware of danger first. Dawn looked significantly at the pile of dust at the foot of the chair Jason had just lifted her from.
“You k-!” Buffy was not pleased. Dawn didn't seem particularly happy about it either. Unshed tears shone in her eyes.
“Not here.” Anita hissed. “Demonized vamps dust with a stake to the heart?”
Faith answered, still a little shocked that Angel, and Angelus, were truly gone. “Yes.”
She flipped open her cell phone. “Found the girl.”
RIPT stormed the building within minutes, taking out all of Angelus' minions, not giving them time to further discuss the events of the day.

The discussion had to wait until much later in the day, after they had all given their statements. Anita had told Dolph, in front of everyone, so the stories would match, that they had run in to see Angelus cutting Dawn's stomach, and she personally had staked him. Davidson had magically produced kill on site orders for demonized vampires, so Anita was not being charged.
Davidson had gone out with Dolph to catch up, telling his charges that Dolph would drop him at Anita's at exactly 10pm, and they would leave then.
Dawn was lying on the coffee table so that Lillian could treat her wounds. Jason was holding her hand, and Nathaniel, Gregory, and Stephen were as close as Lilian would let them get, but all touching in somewhere.
“Boys! She's not were.” Lilian snapped. “She doesn't need your warmth.”
“Everyone needs to know people care when they're hurt. “ Nathaniel said quietly.
Buffy was pacing, as was Anita. They oddly mirrored each other, the small blonde pacing one way, the similarly statured brunette pacing the other.
Faith was lounging in an armchair, soaking up the eyecandy.
“Damn Dawnie! You do find the hotties, don't you?” she had remarked upon walking in.
Willow was sitting on the couch, a little overwhelmed. Micah was sitting a respectable distance from her.
“I didn't mean to.”
There were tears in her voice.”
“Don't Dawn. Not right now. I can't-” her voice broke. He had been her true love, once. “Everything will be ok, once we get you home and-”
Chaos broke loose. Lillian had to use her lycanthropic strength to hold Dawn down.
Jason, Gregory, even Nathaniel were screaming at Buffy, which made Faith and Willow start up, which got Anita going.
Chaos reigned for a good five minutes before Dawn managed to make her voice heard.
“Stop it! All of you!”
Lilian finally let her up, having finished bandaging her cuts. Dawn ran her hands through her hair and sighed.
“Buffy. You know I love you, right?”
“Of course I do Dawnie...”
“I can't go back with you.”
“It's not a choice Dawnie,” Willow said gently, “You aren't safe here.”
“Not safe? Not safe?” Dawn screeched. “It's been over a year since I have had anything weird or bad happen to me. The only thing that did was because of you! I was having a normal life, finally, and you had to ruin it!” she brought her hands to her mouth. It had slipped out.
Anita signaled for everyone to leave.
Everyone except Willow and Jason obeyed. Faith sidled up to Gregory as they left for the back porch.
“Buffy, I'm sorry. I always turn 13 when you're around. That's why I left.”
“You killed my first love tonight.”
“I know.” Both sisters were crying. “I didn't mean to-”
“He was going to-”
The two girls met in a messy, tearful embrace. There would probably be bruises later on, but right now, each needed the other.
Jason and Willow left them alone, confident that there would be no bloodshed.
Micah was serving the first of the hamburgers when the girls walked out, arm in arm and smiling.
“You don't want the first round, Buff” Dawn grinned.
Jason bit into his bloody burger and grinned at the slayer, blood running down his chin.

A few hours later, Dawn hugged her sister as the slayers and their handler got into the government issue car.
“And don't think I've forgotten about that strip club thing!”
“No little sister of mine-”
“Let's go, Summers!”
