Ron stopped in the centre of the Common room, his jaw dropping at a truly unprecedented sight.
“Ron, what- Whoa!” Harry stopped beside Ron, his own jaw dropping.
Ginny glared up at them. “Don’t just stand there,” she snapped, “help me.”
“What the hell happened to her?” Ron demanded.
“And why is she on the floor?” Harry added.
Ginny put her hands on her hips and blew an errant lock of hair out of her face. “She fell off the couch. Twice. It seemed safer to just leave her on the floor.”
Hermione looked up at her friends from her position on the floor and giggled.
Ginny winced. “She’s been like this all afternoon. Madam Pomfrey got so annoyed she kicked Hermione out.” Ginny looked around the deserted common room. “She drove everyone out of here a few hours ago.”
“Ginny!” Ron snapped. “What happened?”
“She was helping Professor Flitwick with some of his students today. They were doing cheering charms.”
“How many did she get hit with?” Harry asked with a wince.
Ginny shrugged. “I don’t know, but look at her. This isn’t wearing off soon.”
Hermione batted a hand against Ron’s leg. “Ron… you have red hair!” She laughed loudly.
Ron raised a hand self consciously to his head.
Ginny rolled her eyes. “She’s been doing that all evening. Yes, Ron and I have red hair. You have brown hair. Harry has black hair.”
“And green eyes!” Hermione giggled.
Hermione rolled onto her side, her arms wrapped around her aching stomach. Involuntary giggles spilled from her lips.
Ginny ran a hand through her hair. “You know what? I’m going to bed. The two of you can deal with her. I’ll see you later in the morning.”
Ron’s eyes widened. “Wait! Can’t you take her…?”
“Lavender and Parvati refuse to let her in the dorm tonight. Just make sure she doesn’t swallow her tongue. And if she falls asleep, put her on the couch. Tell Dobby I said hello.” Ginny turned her back on Ron’s spluttering and Harry’s dismayed expression. “Good night, Harry. I’ll see you two in the morning.”
Harry sighed and slumped into a chair. “Give it up, mate. It’s going to be a long night.”
