Rome, Italy
Dawn entered her Ancient Languages class and sat in the first seat of the second row.

“Look at her today!” She heard a classmate whisper. “Top of her class and she dresses like that?”

Dawn pulled out her books and glanced at her feet; black combat boots, black leggings under a short camouflage skirt, tight black tank, army green zip-up hoodie with a giant silver scull and cross bones on the back. Her long hair was pulled back in French braid with blue and red streaks.

Usually the girls spoke in French cause they knew Dawn didn’t, so why speak English today?

Dawn ignored them as the professor entered, she opened her book. She glanced down and froze, on the page she had opened to was a photograph of ancient cuneiform, the problem was she instantly knew what it said, “They bees that live in my tree make delicious honey.” Dawn turned the pages to the picture of Egyptian hieroglyphs. “Cleopatra believes the Romans may be useful.” She was confused, what in the name of the Hellmouth was going on? Was this a key thing?

After class Dawn rushed to the library, she began pulling books out right and left: German, Japanese, Swahili, Korean, Russian… She could read them all easily. She left the library and pulled out her cell. “Hi, Willow, I need a favor, yeah, um, can you like magically scan me? I think my dormant key powers are, I don’t know, not.” She hung up and hurried home.

Dawn had just walked in the door when Willow called back.

“So?”

“It’s not what you think?”

“What is it?”

“Well, it’s, um…”

“Willow?”

“Evolution.” There was a load crack and book hit the coffee table. “The coven knew all about it. It, whatever it is, is starting all over the world. The author of this book lives in New York City, I wrote his address on the inside cover, ask him. The coven says he has the answers.” Willow hung up leaving Dawn slightly left freaked.

6 months later
New York City

Dawn had decided to finish out the semester first before moving back to the US to find Dr. Suresh. She was on the subway on the way to his apartment when it happened. The car suddenly stopped, the lights went out and everyone froze as by a spell. Confused Dawn stayed still, afraid of what caused it. One man did move he began to freak out. Suddenly a samurai or a man dressed like a samurai appeared.

“Peter Petrelli.”

The man turned to the samurai.

“I have a message for you.”

Dawn looked back and forth between the two men standing before her. The samurai looked at her and winked.

“Save the cheerleader, save the world.”

‘What?’ Dawn thought.

Before she could think more about it, the samurai was gone the light came back on and everything returned to normal.

Peter tried convincing his friend of what had just happened. Dawn was about to speak up when she felt something in her hand. She pulled her hand out of her pocket and saw a note written in Japanese.

“Peter has his path and you have yours. You will see him again. Find the Projector.”
