Micah Sanders looked up from the comic books, and wondered if like in the stories the gal was even more than she appeared. He looked at her.

“You know, you’re nice when you’re not being scary,” he told her, eliciting a smile. “Um, what’s your real name and why are you here?”

The girl smiled at him, and decided ‘what the heck’ as she moved close to the boy’s ear to make sure no one else would hear.

“Marcie Ross of Sunnydale. And I’m here ‘cause Mr. Linderman rescued me from myself.”
