“Why do you stay with him? He’s a jerk,” Sam delicately plucked a feather from her hair.

She smiled lopsidedly at him, and shook her head violently, displacing the other feathers that had made their way into her messy bun, “You know, he says the same about you, except the jerk is replaced by a ‘bitch’, and the ‘stay with him’ is in a totally different context.”

“Yeah, I guess when Dean says “Why do you stay with him? He’s a bitch”, he means ‘Why do you run to his room every time we argue like cats and dogs? He’s a bitch. If you wanted a pillowfight, you could’ve just come to me, sweetheart.’” Sam’s grin was tainted by sadness and melancholy.

Buffy shrugged, and put down the pillow she was holding.
