On Any Other Day...

“I don’t have time for this,” Selene said, striking the blond girl with a backhand. With the girl reeling, she proceeded on, but was stopped as her arm was grabbed. She was spun around and once again the girl was stood in her way.

“Because what vampire does have time to be staked?” the girl asked. Selene rushed her, but she was quick. Not a vampire but more than human.

“You don’t understand,” Selene said, striking the girl once again. “The lycans.” The girl struck back. Selene actually felt it; definitely more than human. On any other day she would enjoy this, but she had a job to do. “They are heading for the streets,” she continued. The girl shot her a puzzled look, followed by a straight punch. Selene blocked the attack but only just.

“You’re not crazy are you, because I don’t have a clue what you’re on about?” Another attack by the girl but Selene was able to avoid it, already beginning to sense that the girl’s technique was no match to her own. As the girl kicked, Selene took hold of her foot and pushed her sternly onto her back before breaking into a sprint. The girl stood and dusted herself off.

“Giles is gonna be mad with me,” she said to herself. “That’s the second one that’s got away this week.”
