"Theres Always Another Way"
Buffy was fighting Glory, the Hell-god bitch. She was running up the stairs, Dawn needed her. Running fast as she could Ripley was alert and ready for anything. There was a lizard-man, no worse than the alien she had fought. Actually, compared to big-mama he was easy. All it had taken was a kick, and a swing and he was down, falling splat on the ground. Now able to get to a tear-faced Dawn, Ripley cut away the ropes keeping her grand-daughter there. The portal opened though, the bastard had cut Dawn up. Shallow cuts were all it took. Dawn wanted to jump, but she kept hold.
“What are you doing?” she asked, looking at her Grand-baby like she was stupid.
“Grandma, you know you have to let me.” Dawn said, crying still, “It’s gotta have the blood.”
“No.” Ripley said, keeping a firm hold on the fourteen year old.
“You know the rule of survival? There’s always another way.”
“There isn-“ Ripley interrupted her.
”No,” Ripley said, forcefully. She ripped a piece of bloody cloth from the pretty dress, threw it in and the portal was gone.
