FEEDBACK: I live and breathe for it. Pretty Please?

DISTRIBUTION: Desired, Twisting the Hellmouth, anyone else please ask. If you have permission for any of my other stuff, feel free to have this one too.

SUMMARY: Wesley plays knight rescuer one last time and finds himself in a world of trouble dimensions away from his own.

NOTES: I am using the movie version of events, at least through the Two Towers, and twisting them to suit my needs. Hey, if Peter Jackson can have a troop of elves show up at Helm's Deep and Faramir try to take the ring (grumble), I can mess with things too. If I change certain things, I know I’m doing it- this is fanfiction after all. I hope I can justify what happens to the readers, but please understand that all changes to what happens in the story are intentional. I didn’t just ‘forget’. I won’t be following the main quest, either, rather taking a different look at what went on ‘behind the scenes’.

Also, I tend to see Wesley as a dark gray character. He won’t be portrayed nearly as borderline as he is in some of my non-xover fics, but he is a complicated character with many flaws and issues. At the point in AI which I begin the story, he is a wounded person, abandoned and adrift, harder and more brittle around the edges and engaged in a mutually destructive (while delicious) relationship with a dangerous woman. Don’t expect to see BtVS:3 Wes here- this Wes is strictly AtS:4.

LANGUAGES: I don’t know Elvish, and don’t have the time to learn, despite thinking it would be a fascinating study. Here, I’ll indicate Elvish as /text/ as well as with other written clues that some characters will be speaking in a language other than the Common Tongue. That said, language and the learning thereof will play a moderately important role in this fic.

PAIRINGS: Wesley/Eowyn eventually, mentions Wesley/Lilah, with Boromir, Pippin and Haldir friendships. This is essentially a Wes centric fic. All pairings will come secondary. My notion of pairings is perhaps not like most peoples. (In case you're curious as to what this means, just check out Willow Tree Burning. No one ever said everyone gets a happy ending.) Just because I indicate romantic interest, it does not mean that there will be a fairy tale ending, or even a successful relationship of short duration. The world is a harsh place, with failed experiments every day. I hope you will trust how I choose to tell the tale of Wesley, with or without Eowyn, and enjoy the story for the story's sake.

SPOILERS: SuperSymmetry on AtS (Mid Season 4); through The Two Towers (for now), movie version for LotR.

RATING: violence, depressing thoughts, some rather vocal misery and memories, some sexual innuendo

DISCLAIMER: I don’t own the characters. They belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, Fox, WB, UPN and their associates, J.R.R. Tolkein and to a lesser extent Peter Jackson.

DEDICATION: As always, my deepest gratitude to my beta, Esme. None of my xovers could be done without her. You rock my world, babe.

BETA: Well, Esme, of course.
