Chapter One,
Peter arrives in Middle Earth

Peter thought of his life as different stages. The stages changed as his life changed or a major event happened. For Peter it was always before Lucy, before Boarding School, before Dad went to war and Ed changed and before and after Narnia. His sister Lucy had discovered a way to another world and had brought them there. They become the rulers of the land and lived there for many years, and trusted in Aslan. When they had fallen back through the wardrobe they had been children again. Before Narnia things had been half understood, strange and confusing, and he had felt like a child in an adult's body. Now he was an adult in a child.

He had been in the back garden at home after his exams. He had been listening to Lucy and Edmund telling him and Susan about the Dawn Treader when, in the corner of his eye he had seen trees, trees that were not of Earth, and were singing. He turned his head towards them, Lucy and Susan had made a strange sound, joyful yet scared and Edmund had jumped to his feet, then suddenly everything went dark.

He awoke slowly, to light being filtered through autumn leaves. He was in a strange forest, and he was alone.
