“Come on,” his girlfriend yelled.
He regretted ever suggesting this; he didn’t even know how the idea had got into his head in the first place.
So now here he was, sitting on a hard plastic bench with a pair of skates next to him, with no idea on where to start.
“Methos are you listening to me?.” Oh, oh - he thought.
“Sorry babe what did you say?” he asked.
The girl just shook her head and told him to hurry up.
“I’m coming,” he mumbled more to himself than to her while putting on the skates.
He sat there for a while watching her turn and spin and twirl and jump gracefully. In all his 5000 years he had never met anyone like her, sweet, caring and loving, not to mention stubborn as hell, he still couldn’t believe his luck at finding her.
She saw him staring and turned to grin at him, a lucky man indeed- he thought.
He stood and started walking- or skating actually, to the ice rink, when he remembered why he had thought this wasn’t a good idea. He didn’t know how to skate!. As soon as the thought crossed his mind he swayed and would have fallen if a small, strong hand hadn’t grabbed his arm to keep him steady.
He raised his head to see the amused look on his girlfriend’s face.
“Don’t say it,” he told her when he saw Buffy open her mouth to speak.
“Don’t,” he warned but it was useless of course, it was her after all.
“You can’t skate,” she said biting her lower lip to keep from laughing. Her shoulders shook with the effort and in the end laughter won and she had to let go of his arm to hold her stomach after laughing for two minutes straight. When she was able to breathe again she wiped the tears from her eyes with the back of her sleeves.
“Are you done?” asked Methos with an annoyed look. “or are you going to keep mocking me?”
The girl frowned and the smiled, “I’m sorry, but you’ve got to admit the look on your face was funny,” she said, her eyes bright with mirth. At seeing this he couldn’t help but laugh with her.
“Come on Methos, I’ll help you,” Buffy said grabbing his hand and guiding him towards the rink,
“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea,” He told her panicking. “You go have fun and I’ll sit here and watch you.”
“But I want to have fun with you,” The girl said pouting at him.
That got him, she knew how seeing her pout affected him and she used that to her advantage. He sighed. “Ok,” he said giving in.
They started out slowly moving one step at the time until at least Methos wasn’t clinging onto her hand for dear life and he could stand on his own without embarrassing himself by falling over.
“See,” Buffy said pointing at Methos who was now skating in circles. “I knew you could do it.”
Methos looked at Buffy’s smiling face and did what he had wanted to do all night, he kissed her. His lips brushed against hers softly, the smallest of touches, but he knew what it did to her, and her soft moan confirmed it.
“Methos...” she breathed and before she could say more he kissed her again, this time long and hard, he kissed her pouring all the passion and love he felt for her into the kiss.
He broke the kiss after a few moments not letting their lust run loose, not yet at least- He thought.
“Wow,” Buffy said touching her now swollen lips. She was feeling light headed and as if a thousand butterflies were dancing in her stomach.
Buffy looked at him, her love shinning in her eyes “Maybe we should go home earlier.”
He looked at her seeing her impatiently bit her lip and knowing what she wanted, he thought about teasing her but quickly dismissed the idea because his need too, was about to get out of control, also he was more than happy to get out of the ice rink and never again come back.
“Ok,” he said “Let’s go.”
Buffy grabbed his hand and began skating to the edge “I still can’t believe you don’t know how to skate, I mean you’re like 5000 thousand years old.”
At hearing this Methos huffed, making Buffy to stop skating, causing Methos to crashed into her back and making him lose his balance and fall down taking Buffy with him. At the last second Methos turned pulling Buffy to land on top of him so that he wouldn’t crush her.
Methos groaned at the pain he felt in his back “are you okay?” he asked her a moment later.
“Well, what do you think? I’m not the one who landed on his back,” she answered sweetly, a hint of amusement coloring her voice.
“What, no thanks?” he asked sounding a little hurt.
“Thank you Methos,” she said and kissed him softly.
“I love you,” she told him.
“I love you too sweetheart,” Methos said kissing her. This time the kiss was passionate but still sweet.
“As much as I love you, my back is freezing here, so if you could get up and help me stand…” He left the sentence hanging there.
“Sorry,” she said blushing.
“It’s alright sweetheart.”
Buffy stood quickly and helped him do the same; together they skated over to the edge and took off their skates so they could put on their shoes.
“I think I have had enough fun for today,” Methos told her sighing and holding her waist while they walked to the car.
“Are you sure about that?” Buffy asked with a grin. “And here I thought we could have much more fun when we get home,” she said wiggling her eyebrows.
He looked at her face and gave her a mischievous grin “I think I can handle that,” he said.
Buffy laughed as they got into the car and dove away. Together, with the one they belonged.
