A/N: I love the idea of these two together and when I saw it was an FFA pairing I started writing. Enjoy and review.

"Why won't you just tell me?" Jo demanded her face flushed tears glistening in her eyes. She hated feeling like this. Hated feeling out of control, emotional, like a girl whose boyfriend was lying to her.

She had sworn that she would never be that girl. What had happened to the bright eyed Hunter ready to tackle the world and prove to her mother and herself that she had what it took to make it in this business.

Then she had meet Connor and had been thrown on her ass, literally and figuratively. They had started t hunting together and he had taught her how to take down demons with her bare hands. He had also taught her how to open her heart and trust someone that wasn't her mother or Ash.

She loved him, he was funny and sarcastic and he found pleasure in the littlest things in life, simple things like a rainy day or a cold wind.

He was the freedom she had been searching for.

But he was mysterious, he told her tales of demons and vampires sharing his knowledge with her, but he never talked about himself, not beyond the basics like he had been raised in L.A and he wasn't close to his family.

He never told her why he could survive being thrown off a cliff with only a couple of bruises and at the time she had been too relieved to ask.

Connor sighed and sat down beside her taking her hands in his still hesitant about the most basic of human touches and his voice was flat and serious "Because the things I'd tell you you don't want to hear." he looked resigned "Believe me Jo there are soe things about me you don't want to know, I don't want to know." the last part was said sadly something haunting his eyes.

Jo moved her body closer to his until her side was pressed against him and she cupped his cheek forcing him to look her into her eyes and her voice was firm "Whatever it is tell me." She wanted to face the challenges of life head on and this was one of them. She wasn't going to let his fears stand in the way of her soaring, she was carving out a life for herself and he was a part of that.

Connor's jaw tightened and he closed his eyes lashes brushing against his cheeks.

There was a knock on the door and Connor's eyes flew open traveling from the bag he had hastily been packing that had set off their argument to the door "There's someone i want you to meet."

He drew away from her and walked to the door opening it slowly to reveal a man dressed in black with dark brown hair and familiar haunted eyes. "Jo," Connor angled his body to her softly "this is my father, Dad this is my girlfriend Jo Harvelle, why don't you come in and meet her."

Jo stood as her boyfriend's father entered the room eyes on her warily a hand resting on Connor's shoulder. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Jo smiled nervously and reached forward to shake his hand her eyes widening as he flinched away from the contact. She looked down at the silver bracelet she wore small crosses encircling her wrist a present from Connor at the beginning of their relationship.

He gave her and apologetic smile "So he wasn't told you yet."

She looked to Connor and her boyfriend looked torn "My dad's not exactly human."

Jo looked back to his too young looking father realization dawning "Oh."
