Disclaimer and Author's Notes
Story #1 of "Oh, the people she knows": a series centered around the Post-Chosen Faith.
Disclaimer: Buffyverse characters belong to Joss Whedon and their associated studio owners: Mutant Enemy, Fox, UPN, and etcetera. Other characters belong to their creators and corporate masters: notably, Blade and company belong to New Line, Amen Ra Films, and Marvel. I'm merely borrowing them for the duration, and I promise to put them back relatively undamaged when I'm done. Even the dead ones. ;) All of the stories in this series are fanfics, and not done for profit, only for my own amusement and the entertainment of possible readers. Or the possible entertainment of hypothetical readers. Or something like that...Author's Notes: AU for the Buffy/Angelverse, post series finale: Chosen for Buffy, post season four for Angel. Seems like a lot of people have tackled the "What did Xander do after Chosen?", but not as many have gone into Faith's misadventures afterwards. Since Faith's always been one of my favorite characters, and definitely my favored Slayer, thought I'd take a shot at rectifying that sad state of affairs. Definitely AU: my regard for Whedon's treatment of his buffyverse characters isn't high after Angel and the last two seasons of Buffy, so I'm completely disregarding the "canon" of the Season 8 books. Takes place about a half a year following the events of Blade Trinity, my time line, and roughly six and a half months post Chosen. Obviously from the events here, the virus in Trinity *didn't* kill every vampire in the world, although it did devastate the populations of the vampires of Drake's lineage, and they're starting to trickle back in to the various areas such as NYC and New Jersey. I took a number of liberties with the vampires of the Blade series to make them fit in with the established Buffyverse mythology, while keeping them as a seperate type of vampire. (Yeah yeah - the Watchers always maintained there were only demonic vamps, but it's doubtful they're the Ultimate Authority.)
No intentional character bashing on the Author's part, BUT: this *is* a series set from Faith's PoV, and there's people in the Buffyverse she doesn't always have a high opinion of, and has had recurring bad experiences with (in my opinion), so her attitudes will flavor a number of the views of people in here. She's a pretty strong minded character, and I'm finding she definitely makes her opinions known. ;) Any apparent "bashing" is going to stem from that, in story context, and from whatever events are necessary to the plot lineRating: FR-18. Lots of violence, hopefully none of it *too* graphic, foul language, not much sex and none of that explicit. Not a kiddie fic, but not "erotic Adult" either.Credits: The title of this series (and it is a series, rest assured, even though it may take me a bit to finish and post future installments) is a tribute to the "Oh, the places he goes!" Xander series by phouka. I really enjoyed those bits of fan-fic, thanks muchly. I'm afraid that the series title is as far as the tribute goes: the characters, especially Faith, took off abruptly in different directions once they started running amok in my head. About the only similarities are that Xander *did* get sent off to Africa slayer locating for a year and a half to two years, did come back and spend some time wandering about the US on IWC business, and does hook up with Dawn in the end. But I have this odd feeling that my Xander Harris is going to have somewhat different adventures along the way, and end up with a slightly different relationship to Faith by the end. We'll see when I get there, I reckon.
The concept of the "Ghost Buffy echo" in Faith's head from their merger came from Mediancat, I believe. Don't know if Mediancat originated it, but the "Have Faith" series was the first place I remember encountering it. Made sense that that body swap would have left echoes... especially at the Hellmouth. I highly reccomend the Have Faith stories. Good stuff.
Other elements, such as there being an active Hellmouth in Cleveland, Chicago, and Scotland, and a Slayer School in Cleveland and NYC, seem to be fic conventions that span across any number of author's works. Kind of an embedded concept by now, if you will. I didn't originate those elements, but I'm not certain who to credit for the concepts, either.
Other credits and notes on the various elements in the story and crossover characters in the dream sequences will be placed at the end of the story in the afterword, so as to not spoil any surprises along the way. If you're really curious, you can flip to the afterword and read them first. Otherwise, rest assured: everything will be tidied up at the end, more or less.Feedback: Feedback me, Seymour! In other words, 'yes, please'. ;) I may not actually take critiques into consideration, but I always enjoy reading what people think.Word Count: 73,626 so far, not counting notes, title, and disclaimer.Awards and Nominations: "Anything for Love" was nominated in the Best Portrayal of Faith and Best Movie Crossover categories at the Twisting the Hellmouth 2007 Crossing Over Awards.New! - This story has been nominated in multiple categories at the
