FFA Pairing:  Connor / Leo Wyatt (Charmed)

Summary:  Connor found himself wandering the streets of San Francisco and ran in to a man who has a penchant for going to really high places to think.

PhoenixRae's Notes:  This idea slithered its way into my head soon after I read this FFA pairing.  Timeline's set after the season finale of Angel and somewhere during the final season of Charmed.  This is just a drabble of what I think a conversation between Connor and Leo might be after the events of "Never Fade Away."  I hope you enjoy. I KNOW IT HURTS.  I felt the same way too when I was taken from my family,” Leo admitted, his eyes fixated on the horizon while he sat atop one of the beams on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Connor looked at the man who joined him on his perch.  He appeared in a stream of blue and white lights and sat down beside him.

“How did you make the hurt stop?” he asked.

Leo looked at the crestfallen face of the young man seated beside him.  He took a deep, calming breath, carefully weighing the impact of his advice to the young man.

“You live, Connor.  You live for the day you’ll see each other again.  The knowledge that I’d once be reunited with my family was what kept me going.”

Connor smirked.  "In other words, life goes on."

Leo smiled.  "Yes, life goes on, Connor.  Don't let your father's sacrifice be for nothing.  He wanted you to be safe that was why he faced-off with the demons that plagued LA."

Connor didn't think he'd be able to do it.  Leo made it sound so simple.  He had been going on with his life this past year not knowing he was sired by one of the notorious being in history; a Vampire with a Soul, the Champion of the Helpless.  The man whom he betrayed during his rampage after he was taken from his loving arms by a sadistic hunter who wanted to extract revenge on the then reckless and soulless vampire who plagued on his family.  He was kidnapped as a babe and taken to a foreign place where demons ruled and he learned to run and slay demons to survive.

He became an animal while he was in that dimension.  He was molded and trained to kill Angel.

Connor closed his eyes and tried to block out the rush of memories that plagued him, like what it did when Wesley cracked the sphere that held his and everyone else's memory of what a monster he was before Angel sacrificed his chance at having his son by his side and gave him a real family; a normal life he dreamt of for his son.

"He wanted me to have a normal life," he whispered.

Leo nodded beside him.  He understood this young, broken man who wasn't really broken, just...lost.  He heard his sad tale, of how his father -- a vampire with a soul -- sacrificed all that was dear to him in order to provide his son a safe and normal life.

Tears started rolling down Connor's cheeks.  He didn't realize he was crying.  He hadn't allowed himself time to grieve his father's demise, or the rest of his team's demise, until he had put enough distance between Los Angeles and himself.  He found himself wandering the streets of San Francisco and on a whim, he looked up at the high beams of the famed Golden Gate Bridge and climbed it.

"All he ever wanted was to give me a normal, safe life."  Connor gripped the ledge on either side of him.  He was containing his anger and grief.

Leo reached out and wrapped his arm around the young man's shoulders, pulling him close to him and giving him the paternal nurturing he could offer.
