They watched the two of them from a distance and the taller of the two sneered as he saw the woman brush the young boy’s blonde hair away from his face. Glances were exchanged between the two as they turned and walked into the house and into an office. Spike slumped into the chair as he lit a cigarette and took a long drag.
“You do realize that she can’t coddle him all the time,” he said.
Lucius took a moment, pushing the sleeve of his arm up to his elbow as he glanced down at the Dark Mark that seemed to be burned into his skin. “I know, do you really think that the Dark Lord is going to want to use him?”
“Dru sees it,” Spike replied. “It’s not common that she’s wrong, mate.”
“And what does Angelus say?” Lucius murmured. Spike’s jaw hardened at the mere mention of Angelus’ name as he put out the cigarette.

Lucius nodded as Spike slowly stood and pulled on his leather coat, “You’re off to Sunnydale then?” he asked Spike as the vampire glanced toward the door in which a woman, pale as the moon stood in the doorway, as if she needed the doorframe’s support.
“Voldemort says that’s where Dru’s cure is going to be, so that’s where we’re going.” Spike glanced down a moment, “You take care of yourself tonight, Lucius, Dru’s not too sure things are going to work out according to plan.”
Standing as Spike walked toward Drusilla and took her hand, the gazes of the two men met, knowing that the Halloween Night that lay ahead of them would change both of their lives forever.
