Faith glanced down at her arm and shuddered as the pain ripped through her. The pain wasn't the cause of the shudder. It was the disgust at what she was allowing people to manipulate her into. Sure, it was for the good of the world, but what world? Not her world. Her world was demons and little girls fighting for their lives. Then another world had snuck up behind her. A world of pain and sorrow and magic. A world where she had a mother who wasn't on drugs. Though this mother was worse in her own way.

"You need to go?" The old man with the beard. The one that had convinced Giles that this was for the best. Faith couldn't let Giles down. None of them could. She stood and snagged the pendent around her neck. Her own form of transportation.

No time for goodbye
He said, as he faded away

"Faith, darling, give mummy a kiss," The woman with wild dark curls and insane eyes held her velvet clad arms open for the slayer. Faith walked up and kissed her gently on the cheek.

"How are you today?" She asked softly. Bellatrix twirled a little and giggled.

"Fantastical, the muggles never knew what hit them," It was at times like this that Bellatrix Lestrange brought to mind Drusilla. Beautiful in a dark way, but as looney as any other toon and twice as twisted. This was what she was fighting against.

"I have been summoned," Faith told the older woman. Bellatrix nodded and gestured toward the large doors at the end of the hall and Faith walked away.

Don't put your life in someone's hands
They're bound to steal it away

Faith's mind worked as she continued to walk toward the doors. She had been put in this position by someone who didn't know her, but knew of her. Albus Dumbledore. She had killed before, she could kill again for the greater good. That was the consensus. Never mind how badly it hurt her emotionally. She had put this behind her. The anger, the fear, the feelings of betrayal and uselessness.

It was true that she hadn't been asked to kill anyone, but she had tortured innocent people. Children even ... and scrubbing her hands until the bled didn't stop her from feeling like she still had their blood on her hands. And she'd scrub harder and harder until she couldn't remember ever being clean.

Don't hide your mistakes
'Cause they'll find you, burn you
Then he said

Faith knocked once and entered the room. Voldemort was sitting on his dais, his pet snake coiling around the throne he seemed to think made him more important. Faith was glad that people couldn't read her mind at that moment. Her life would be worth less than the dust in the corners if Voldemort knew her true feelings.

"My lord," Faith bowed her head prettily and waited for his permission to raise it.

"Faith, please, stand straight, be proud of your beauty and power," He told her. Faith looked up, her face blank. He was always complementing her. Telling her how amazing she was, how proud of her he was, how beautiful she was. He didn't touch her though. He never touched anyone. She wasn't sure why, but she was glad of it.

If you want to get out alive
Oh oh, run for your life.

"I have a little present for you," His voice slid through the room, coiling in the corner like the snake he resembled.

"For me? What have I done to deserve this honor?" Faith asked prettily, a tiny smile on her face. Inside she screamed and cried and fought against the walls of the cage she had been placed in. Voldemort smiled at her, as always it sent a shiver of dread down her spine.

"You please me," Was all he said before gesturing to one of the many creatures in black robes and white masks, this one with only one real arm. He scampered away and returned moments later, more death eaters behind him, and each of them with a captive. Delighted whispers broke out for a moment before their lord roared for silence.

If you want to get out alive
Oh, oh run for your life.

The revelry had Faith at the center, fighting to control her face and actions so that they wouldn't show her pain and fear. Toys. He gave her pretty shiny toys to destroy the soft whimpering toys. Her mother was so proud, as was her step-father and his brother. Her aunt was quiet and icy as always, a pinnacle of aloofness bordering on boredom. Her Uncle Lucius seemed to be enjoying himself. Her cousin was at his mothers side, as always.

"Hot, cold, sharp, blunt," Faith recited in a sing-song voice, circling the mother of five. Her children had already been dealt with. Now it was her turn, and then her wizard husbands. He had to watch everything. After all, he had married a muggle. This was all of his own making ...

"Please," He cried out. After the third child he hadn't been able to do anything but say that word and cry. Faith wasn't sure how much longer she could take it. Voldemort was testing her. She knew he was.

This is my last time
She said, as she faded away

Faith walked out of the room, allowing the wizards to have their fun with the husband. It was her job to deal with the innocent ones. She needed to wash her hands. Wash her mouth, her hair, her soul. The door creaked for a moment and quick steps sounded behind her. Faith turned.

"I had hoped she would never find you," Narcissa told her niece. Faith didn't say anything, her face as cold as her aunts.

"Did you need something? I have things I need to do," Faith told her, raising an eyebrow.

"Get out while you can. There is still time. This life ... it wasn't meant for our children. Things changed. This will kill you inside," Narcissa told her. Faith took a slow breath and nodded.

"It already has," She said, turning and walking away.

It's hard to imagine
But one day you'll end up like me
Then she said

"Cissy, come back in and join the fun," Bellatrix commanded from the door with a laugh. Narcissa watched her niece for a moment.

"Coming Bella," She called, turning around and going back to the life she hoped would end. For her sons sake, she hoped that Faith hadn't been burned out. She had a spark in her that reminded Narcissa of Andromeda. Maybe she could get away. Maybe Draco would use that as a reason to run as well.

Faith took the pencil from her pocket and waited for the pull behind her Navel. As she appeared in the middle of the room she took a deep breath and then another. Her breathing becoming faster and shallower.

"Faith?" Albus asked cautiously. Faith giggled a little. He was afraid of her. Of course he was, she was covered in blood and sweat and cruel laughter. The remnants of terrified childish screams clung to her, refusing to let go. Her laughter turned hysterical as her breathing hitched.

"Faith, I need you to stop laughing, your scaring the nice wizards," Andrew told her. Andrew, her watcher. How she wound up with Andrew, she'd never know, but she had. Maybe it was because he could do magic and they were in the wizarding world. None of the other Scoobies had come with her. They just knew she'd do what needed to be done. Only they didn't know what that entailed. Didn't know how much it was killing her.

"I'm scaring them? I'm scaring myself," tears started trailing down her face as her laughter didn't cease. Everyone in the crowded room was silent, watching the girl fall apart in front of them.

"That's it, all of you off with yourselves, get out," The short round redhead started getting rid of everyone.

"Mum," One of her sons started. The tiny womans glare turned on and he fled.

"Everyone, leave off," Ginny helped her mother. Hermione had to literally push Andrew out of the dining room, but eventually it was cleared of all but the four women. Molly walked up and pushed Faith into a chair.

"I'll start the tea," Hermione announced.

"I'm scaring them? They made me this way. I was better, I was better," Faith cried, her laughter dying. Molly nodded and went about whipping up fresh clothing and cleaning rags while her daughter closed the windows and doors.

"You are doing good, no matter how it seems," Molly told her, her heart breaking at the pain in the young womans voice. Faith was good at heart. Too good to be forced to do such horrible things, no matter what she had done in the past.

"Torturing children? Innocent little boys and girls and mothers and fathers. For some twisted psycho on a power trip," Faith cried angrily.

"It would happen whether you were there or not," Hermione reminded the girl before spelling the brunettes hair clean.

"That doesn't make it hurt less," Faith told them.

"The pain is good Faith. It means you haven't lost yourself," Ginny said quietly as Molly cleaned the girl. Faith allowed their ministrations, putting up as much resistance as a rag doll.

If I stay, it won't be long
Till' I'm burning on the inside

"I need to leave. I need to go away and not look back," Faith mumbled.

"Could you really?" Ginny asked firmly. Faiths shoulders slumped.

"No," She whispered.

"Whether you leave or not, this will continue to happen. With you there, less people are killed and we know what they are planning. It hurts, and the nightmares leave you weak, but this is for the best," Ginny reminded her. Faith pulled away from them, now clad only in her bra and jeans, both of those spattered with blood.

"That's what's so hard," She informed them before leaving to her room.

If I go, I can only hope
That I'll make it to the other side

She was naked and covered in bruises and abrasions. It happened after every revel. She would try to disappear into a corner of the shower and cry herself out, the water turning icy long before she was done scrubbing at her pain. She didn't look up as the water shut off and someone tugged her into their arms. Her sobs wracked her entire body, her muscles aching at the strain her tears were putting on her wasted body. She was too thin. She hadn't been eating, hadn't been sleeping, hadn't been training. The vivacious slayer that everyone thought they knew, was gone away for the time being, leaving a husk of broken dreams and spent emotion in her place. If they could only see her now ...

If you want to get out alive
Oh, oh run for..

A thread bare towel was draped around her and another was used to dry her hair as the tears dried in her eyes. She blinked a few times and glanced up at the somber redhead taking care of her. This wasn't the first time, and she still wasn't sure why he did it. He seemed to take care of her. Charlie wasn't here all that often, but he was always there after one of her revels and he always made sure she didn't end up dying of pneumonia.

"I'm rotting inside," She whispered. He didn't say anything as he finished drying her off. Faith sat on her bed, watching as he walked over to her wardrobe and pulled out flannel pajamas.

"You aren't rotting," He told her, holding out the clothing and watching her put them on. Faith brought her knees to her chin and wrapped her arms around them.

"I feel like I am," She said, scared that the taint she was continually surrounded by would rub off.

"Anyone in your position would. That's how you know your good Faith. Things hurt you, other peoples pain hurts you, whether you cause it or not," He told her, sitting down beside her on the bed. Faith leaned into his side and his arm pulled her closer.

"Will you stay with me?" She asked, trying not to let the desperation be heard.

"Of course,"

He held her the entire night. She slept more than she had in weeks, and her nightmares were soothed away by calloused hands and gentle murmurs. He waited until she was awake to tell her goodbye and go back to his dragons, but Faith wasn't upset by that. Charlie was who he was, and everything he did was with good intention and rarely ever hurt anyone. She wasn't sure why he continued to help her, take care of her, but he did. She went downstairs and sat beside Andrew.

"I called Giles," Andrew told her. Faith turned bleary eyes on him.

"Why?" She asked.

"Last night. I told him I thought you needed a break. Albus talked to him also," Andrew told her. Faith nodded.

"What's the verdict?" She asked.

"You're stronger than you think. You'll survive this. You have too, there are too many people counting on you," He told her quietly. He didn't know exactly what she was going through, but he knew that this was hurting her. She was different than she used to be, and not in a good way.

"Of course," Faith nodded. She closed her eyes so no one would see the tears that had sprung there. She was strong, people were counting on her. Why couldn't they count on someone else? Why couldn't they just trust their other spies. She knew they had them. At least 2 high placed and in the inner circle. They didn't need her, they wanted her, and she couldn't say no. She couldn't destroy the trust they were placing in her.

"Will you be alright?" Ginny asked her pseudo-friend as she got ready to leave.

"No. I don't think I ever will be," Faith told her. Ginny nodded. Faith could see the strength in the girls eyes. She was scared, but this was her world and she would fight for it in any way she could. She appreciated what Faith was doing for her and all the others there.

"Be safe," The redhead told her. Faith nodded, wondering if Ginny was the reason her brother was always there after a revel. She clasped the medallion around her neck and closed her eyes.

"Faith, darling, give mummy a kiss," Bellatrix gave her standard greeting to her long lost daughter and held her arms open. Faith portrayed the adoring daughter and kissed the cheek.

"Hello mother, how have you been since I last saw you," She asked, already imagining scrubbing away the putrid stench of blood that permeated the air and her skin. The laughter from the next room sent her on edge and she locked away her feelings in the tiny little birdcage inside her soul, not letting it out until it was safe.
