Author’s Note: This is my first attempt at writing. I’ve read fan fic for years, and random ideas keep popping into my head, so I thought I’d try. Please review and tell me if this is worth continuing. Also, I have no beta as of right now, so I’m doing the best I can on my own. Let me know if you like it!
“Quick! We must get you out of here!” Severus Snape walked swiftly down the hallway of his ancestral home.
“Where are we going?” His young student, Draco Malfoy asked as he followed him.
The two had just apparated to Snape manor after the disastrous events at Hogwarts.
“We must get you somewhere undetectable before the Dark Lord finds you. You failed him, Draco. Do you have any idea what that means?” Snape said, curtly, while rifling through the papers on his desk.
“Killing Dumbledore was an impossible task!” The young man protested.
“Do you really think that Lord Voldemort cares? All he cares about is that you failed. Aha! Found it! All right, let’s go.”
Professor Snape held up a piece of parchment triumphantly and began to lead Draco back out of the house. The two walked quickly and quietly to the gates of Snape Manor. Severus grabbed Draco’s arm and immediately disapparated.

When they reappeared, they were in a brightly lit alley. As Draco took in his surroundings with wide, terrified eyes, Severus re-examined the piece of paper in his hand.
“Come, Draco. We must hurry. I will be summoned soon, and you need to be settled before then.” They walked in silence, occasionally stopping to asses their position before continuing again. After several minutes, they reached a tall white building. They quickly walked up the steps and entered the building. Severus walked to a gray door and knocked forcefully.
After a few tense seconds, the door was opened by a tall, dark haired man.
“Uncle Sev! What are you doing here?” The young man said as he stepped aside.
“I apologize for not contacting you first, Alexander, but this was somewhat of an emergency.” Severus said while guiding Draco in to the apartment first and then entering himself.
“Not a problem. Who’s the Spike-alike?” Xander asked.
“Ah, yes. Alexander, this is Draco Malfoy. Draco, this is my nephew, Alexander Harris.”
Xander held his hand out and Draco shook it, hesitantly. “Nice ta meetcha! Call me Xander.” He said with a bright smile. “What can I help you two with?”
“There was a bit of a situation, and Mr. Malfoy here needs to be hidden for a while. I was hoping you would be able to look after him for a while.”
“No problem. I’ve got some room. Can I ask who he’s hiding from?”
“Deatheaters. He failed to complete his mission for the Dark Lord, and I had to finish it for him. Voldemort will not be pleased.”
“Professor, what will happen to my mother? The Dark Lord is going to kill her isn’t he?” Draco whispered, fearfully.
“Draco, there are many things about this situation that you aren’t aware of. Please sit down. I’ll explain everything. Alexander, do you have anything resembling tea?” Severus smirked at his nephew.
“Of course, Uncle Sev. Right away, Uncle Sev.” Xander replied, sarcastically. He made his way over to the kitchen area mumbling under his breath about snarky British guys.
Severus returned his attention to the terrified blond wizard across from him. “Draco,” Severus began haltingly, “your mother was the one that volunteered you to the Dark Lord.”
“What? No! He said if I didn’t do as he said, he’d kill her! My mother loves me! She would never do what you’re saying! She made you take the Unbreakable Vow!” Draco protested.
“I know this is hard to hear, but she made me take the Unbreakable Vow to ensure Dumbledore’s demise, regardless of you ability to perform your task.” Severus showed an uncharacteristic compassion towards the boy as the news of his mother’s allegiances was revealed.
“Dumblie’s dead? What happened? I really liked that guy! He always had candy.” Xander commented as he sat two cups of steaming tea on the coffee table in front of them.
Severus turned his attention from the young wizard to answer his nephew’s question. “Dumbledore was cursed while trying to destroy one of Voldemort’s horocruxes. I was able to slow the curse from spreading, but not stop it completely. In the meantime, Draco was told by the Dark Lord that he was to kill Dumbledore or his mother would be murdered. When Dumbledore learned of this, he asked me to kill him in place of Draco, if the boy could not. I killed him no more than a few hours ago.” Severus said the last part quietly, while bowing his head to stare at his clasped hands.
“Wait, you’re on Dumbledore’s side?!” Draco said incredulously.
“I have been for well over half of the time I’ve been a Deatheater.” Severus informed him. “Now, I must go. The Dark Lord will be summoning me soon. Draco, I know this is not an ideal situation, but it is necessary. Please do whatever Alexander tells you. You are on a Hellmouth, so you and any magic you do is masked and cannot be tracked, but there are still muggles about, so please use it sparingly. Alexander, please look after him. I will thwart any search attempts I can without blowing my cover. I will come by to check on the situation as often as I can. You can use the mirror I gave you if you need to contact me in an emergency.”
Both Draco and Xander nodded in understanding and stood to wish Severus farewell. Severus nodded to them both and then disapparated with a “Pop”.
Xander clapped his hands together and turned to Draco. “So, I’m hungry! Do you like pizza” he asked the young wizard with a grin.
Draco’s eyebrow’s knitted together in confusion.
