If you recognise the lyrics, it's because you've heard the sensational song 'Gethsemane' from Jesus Christ: Superstar, which is one of my favourites. The emotions are so raw, and those lyrics just seemed to work for Buffy and Dean, who've been fighting so long for what feels like a hopeless cause. They don't even have redeeming the human race to look forward to.
