Buffy’s nerves frayed a little more as she tried to patiently watch Dean. His large fingers maneuvered the small brown box open before he pulled out the gift. A taupe glass blown ornament, with dark brown chunks of glass jutting out around the decoration, lay in the palm of his hand.
Trying to read his facial expression she tucked her lower lip between her teeth, worrying on the flesh. At the slight twitch of his brow Buffy felt her heart sink. He didn’t like the gift.
Mentally she kicked herself for even thinking that her cliché and corny Christmas gift was a good idea. Dean wouldn’t get the reasoning behind the gift, gods, she wasn’t even sure she understood her own reasoning. At the time the whole analogy had seemed to make sense, now, in retrospect, it hadn’t been her best Buffy metaphor.
“So…” he paused. “It’s a cookie?”
Dean’s face was scrunched in confusion and if she wasn’t feeling so insecure about the gift she would’ve leaned over, chuckling and kissed him.
Nodding her head, the blonde curled locks that were framing her face swished about. With a shy nervous smirk Buffy answered, “It’s – it’s a Buffy baked cookie.”~fin~
