1. A New World


She walks the rocky paths of this barren place each day at dawn.

He wakes each morning to watch her kick the dust as the sun slowly kisses Shadow’s rim.

He knows next to nothing about her, save her name. He rolls it over on his tongue tasting the soft whisper of it.

She pauses seeing him in the doorway and the rising sun lights the gold of her long hair.

He smiles hesitantly at her in greeting.

Her voice ghosts past him as she slips inside.

“Morning.”

The green eyes smile and he is caught in their bottomless glow.
