Rules of Engagement

"Okay. We gather the locals first." Buffy paced the lobby of the Hyperion while everyone else spread out sitting on whatever surface was available. Once again, Buffy found herself calling out commands. "If we run into trouble down the road, we're gonna need all of the help we can get. After we get all the California girls, we'll split up. According to Willow's map, there seems to more of us living around the Hellmouths so, Faith, I'm sending you to Cleveland."

"I always knew you hated me, B, I just never guessed how much," Faith joked.

"There are a lot of girls there that are going to need guidance, Faith. I need someone who knows what's what," Buffy told her.

"Aww. Stop it. You're makin' me blush."

She knew Faith felt uncomfortable being praised but Buffy really thought that her darker half had gone above and beyond recently. She forgave Faith her spotted past. Well, most of it anyway.

"Robin, are you up for traveling?" Buffy asked the heavily injured former principal.

It had only been a day since the big battle with the First, since Willow had given her the news about the newbies the world over. A day was all that Buffy had allowed the Scoobies to get reorganized. Luckily, one day seemed to be enough to make a huge improvement in Robin Wood's physical health, although Buffy suspected that Willow was helping him along a little.

"Good as new,” The man said as he limped to stand next to Faith. He was favoring his left side. Buffy thought a rib or two might be broken but Robin refused a trip to the emergency room.

"Good. You two are together," Buffy told Faith and Robin handing them a list of names.

Faith nodded and let Robin lean on her.

"Xander, you take Andrew and Rona. Head to Orange County..."

"Wait, you're sending me to rich, white country?" Rona asked. She never really did know when to keep her mouth shut.

Buffy, looking annoyed, changed her mind.

"You're right. Xander, take Vi. Rona, you're with me."

Rona groaned as she realized her mistake but took the list that Buffy handed her without further complaint.

"Willow," Buffy continued. "You and Kennedy, go to Neptune. We'll circle out from there."

Giles and Dawn would be staying at the Hyperion to keep track of the coven's findings and keep them all updated on where to go next.

"Everyone got your lists?"

They all clutched the papers that Buffy had given them. Each pair had a list, the names of the newest members of a once impossibly exclusive club. Everyone nodded.

"Let's move out."
