Unwritten Story Art
Disclaimer: I do not own BTVS, and I don't own Numb3rs. Why would you think I did? Anyway, they are owned by their respective creators/producers.
Okay, so this is another image I made for a story that didn't pan out:
Basically the plot was that the Numb3rs crew found Hank Summers dead on Federal property, which gave them jurisdiction - or he worked for some company doing work for the feds, just as long as they, y'know, have jurisdiction - and they begin investigating. Hank Summers had been living out of the country for several years, he's even married to a Spanish national, so what had he come back to the U.S.A. for?
They find out from his wife he was embroiled in a legal dispute, suing his elder daughter for custody of his younger one. Buffy just shot to the list of their top suspects. They go to question her and her friends, and also to question Dawn. Find out everything they can.
Did I mention this is only a couple weeks or so Post-Chosen? The Scoobies and new slayers are staying in a run-down motel set up as a refugee center for the Sunnydale survivors. Buffy, Xander, Dawn, Faith, and Andrew are the ones mostly running things. Robin is still in the hospital, and Faith is watching over him while trying to keep out of sight of the police. Giles and Willow have already left for England to free up the Council funds to start setting up the new regime. The group in L.A. is just waiting for them to send some relief cash before they skedaddle. Plenty of the slayers are still injured, but healing too fast to risk continued hospitalization. They're just starting to recover from their recent losses and are on edge.
This is what Don, Megan, etc. walk into.
They manage to question Buffy after some initial hostility from the slayers guarding the door (worried about demon attacks while they're vulnerable). Buffy is semi-cooperative but exhausted and angry with her father. She is confident of winning the custody case - her ex-boyfriend is the new C.E.O. of Wolfram and Hart and offered to provide lawyers at no cost. She hasn't heard about his murder. They then talk to Dawn who is very hostile and utterly rejects the idea of being taken away from her family: Buffy, Xander, and the rest. Megan profiles Buffy and Dawn and the slayers at the door, and anyone else who interacts with them in any significant way.
They then find out that Hank Summers owed Buffy several thousand dollars in Child Support, and that the files involved had been recently looked into. So far it looks as though Hank was trying to cover up his financial neglect.
And that's about where things start petering out.
The more vague ideas I had were that Buffy was actually Dawn's mother 'cause Dawn is made from her, but that the monks went further than that and actually made it so that Hank was responsible (not like that! Way too gross); Anyway, I couldn't actually figure out a way to make that work.
There were also demons involved at some point in the story, an attack on the Sunnydale Survivors, or they were responsible for luring Hank Summers out there and killed him to distract Buffy so they'd have an easier time killing her and the group there, maybe to stop the new council forming.
The story was also supposed to show the similarities between Buffy and Dawn, and Don and Charlie. Of course, I couldn't figure out how to bring Charlie into the story either.
So, yeah. If this inspires you, or you want to give this plot a shot, go for it, but mostly I just wanted to get this image out here but I really needed to explain it too.
