“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganize our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

Faith listened to the message again. There was something nagging at the back of her mind that she had heard the message before. Sure, she had left Daniel similar messages in the past as he had her but she felt like this was the exact same message. No one could repeat the message completely the same over a long period of time... could they?

Maybe it was just that she was frustrated that after canceling and rescheduling on him yesterday, he had done the same to her today. She knew that he often got asked for help with very little warning and other times they would know weeks in advance. In a way, his work was on par with Slaying. Sometimes they got a lot, sometimes a little and never much information about what.

Daniel looked at the notes in front of him. This was insane, trying to teach Teal'c and Jack Latin in a very short space of time... hell, Jack didn't have a lot of patience to begin with. Add to it that according to him the loop was going to reset itself and they would need to begin again was just nuts.

The way this was going, he was never going to be able to catch up with Faith. Since leaving the message, he managed to call her and let her know he was back but would still miss having dinner with her. It was unreal to him still that he had a younger sister. She was blunt, murdered the English language (amongst other interesting history she had provided him) but still managed to surpass him on some mythology... especially vampire lore.

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganise our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

Reaching over, Faith played the message again. She was sure that she had heard it before. Completely sure that it was more than deja vu. Something was triggering her Slayer senses in a really bad way.

She reached for the phone and dialed the only other person who would be able to sense something so unusual.

“Hey B. Listen, have you noticed anything wacky happening recently?”

She listened to Buffy explain what she had been dealing with and noticed the same thing kept popping up. Deja vu and not in a good way. They spoke about it in detail, trying to work out what was going on. Buffy admitted that Willow had noticed it as well and that the Devon Coven were also feeling like time was being messed around with. Apparently they were working on a spell to help keep their memories for the next cycle through so that they could continue working on identifying whatever it was.

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganise our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

Daniel hung up the phone feeling guilty. He hoped his sister didn't think that this was just a way for him to get even with her for canceling the next day. He thought back to what Jack and Teal'c had said at the briefing. How they had been through this before. Maybe having the two remember what they had discovered from P4X-639 and the research done in the loops since, could help them right the time line again.

Jack and Teal'c entered the room soon after his thoughts had turned back to his sister. He had been wondering if she would believe him if he mentioned the time loops. But as Jack and Teal'c came in, he realized that he wouldn't be able to tell her even if she would believe him.

After noticing the two juggling, Daniel thought of something and quickly asked them. Did they ever take a loop off to do anything because there would be no consequences... Soon after, both of them had rushed out of the room leaving Daniel alone to pick up where they had left off.

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganize our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

Faith shook her head, her memory was focusing clearer on the truth. Partially because of the beginnings of the Coven's spell and partially because as the Slayer, she knew when something was out of the ordinary.

Heaving a sigh, she picked up the phone and called Buffy. The call was conferenced in with Willow.

“So any updates?” she asked.

“The spell worked, the Coven and I remembered what was happening,” Willow quickly answered. “Do we need to cast it on the two of you?”

“I'm five by five Red, seems this time I remembered it all nearly,” Faith answered.

“Same,” Buffy replied as well.

“So what's the next step?” Faith asked.

“We're tracking down where it's coming from,” Willow replied. “Once we know that, I can teleport both of you to the source to stop it.”

“Excellent,” Buffy replied. “It's been a while since Faith and I teamed up for some synchronized Slaying.”

“Gotta get in shape for the Slayer Olympics,” Faith shot back.

“Come on guys, this is serious,” Willow pouted.

“Will, it's us. When are we ever serious?” Buffy asked.

“*speeches*” Faith coughed while Willow laughed at the response.

“Fine, you can try to motivate the brats next time,” Buffy huffed before giggling.

“How long Red?” Faith asked.

“Maybe another two cycles? I hope not longer.”

“Cool with me.”

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganize our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

As Daniel walked down the hall to get another cup of coffee, he heard bells ringing. Shaking his head, he let his mind wander to what Jack and Teal'c had said at the briefing.

“Watch out Space Monkey.”

He turned suddenly and saw Jack coming towards him on a bike. Quickly he pressed up against the wall and watched him ride by. Once Jack was clear of him, he joined in with the SF's who were following Jack. What the hell was going through his mind?

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganize our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

Faith sighed as another loop started. She was beginning to hate that message. Stretching her back, she decided to see what kind of fun she could get up to while waiting for Willow to find out what was happening.

An evil thought crossed her mind. If her brother couldn't come to her, maybe she should check to see just exactly where her brother worked. She was going to break into NORAD. And the benefit was, that even if she was caught, when the loop cycled back around, no one would be the wiser for it.

She quickly changed into her black leather pants and a black halter top and tied her hair back. Packing her backpack up, she included a couple of stakes, just in case she was out late as well as some rope to be on the safe side.

Locking up, she jumped on her motorbike and headed towards NORAD to gain a general feel of the area and to see if she could find the best place to enter. She passed by it twice, each time noticing the position of the guards. She smirked. It looked easy.

Heading off road, she parked her bike in some dense scrub outside the fencing. She looked in all directions before easily jumping over the fence. Avoiding anything that looked remotely like a pathway, she headed up the mountain. There had to be another entrance than from the road, in case of emergency evacuation. It was just the matter of finding it.

Scanning the area on the way up, she noticed a circular cement mound just a bit in front of her. It was out of place which meant it was the ideal place to start her ascent into the mountain. On top of the mound was a trap door which looked like it was rather heavy to open. But not for her. Bracing herself, she pulled it open with barely a sound and looked inside. As she had hoped, there was a ladder leading into the mountain.

She waited a while before heading down, making sure that no alarm had been triggered with her opening the door. After fifteen minutes with no one coming by to check, she slipped down the ladder quickly.

About half way down, she felt her leg vibrate. Swearing softly, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. For so far down, she had remarkable reception but that was probably thanks to it being a Willow Special.

“Hey B, what's up?”

“Why are you whispering?”

“I'm breaking into NORAD. You wanted to know what was going on, and I'm sick of Daniel's message of cancelling our dinner so I figured to slay two birds with one stone or whatever that saying is.”

“You better get out quick,” Buffy advised. “Willow's got something and will be picking you up soon.”

“Tell her ten minutes okay?” Faith asked before hanging up. There was always the next loop to do this.

She got up the ladder again and looked around. Nothing so far. She jumped out and went to close the door when she heard a twig break behind her. She heard another noise to her left and smirked. About time she had some fun.

Moving quickly, she jumped up, grabbing onto the tree branch above before swinging around and landing a kick against the person behind her. He went flying back a fair distance but she knew he wouldn't be too badly wounded. Mainly his pride.

Using her momentum, she dropped to the ground, into a roll before coming up behind a tree. A quick glance to her left gave her the location of the second man. He was calling in for backup but wasn't paying attention to his surrounds. She moved silently behind him and knocked him out before heading down the way she had came. Jumping the fence, she retrieved her bike and sped off to her house to wait for Willow.

Just as she arrived, Willow walked out the door. Noticing the smudges on Faith's clothing, Willow shook her head.

“Been having fun in NORAD?” she asked.

“Not as much as I wanted. B interrupted,” Faith almost sulked.

“That's okay. You'll get to have all the fun you could wish for,” Willow answered.

“Why's that Red?”

“The time loop is originating from a point within NORAD.”

“Let's get planning.”

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just letting you know that I have to cancel on you tonight. My linguistic skills have been requested by another department. I'll call to reorganize our dinner as soon as I'm able.”

After listening to the fantastic tale Jack and Teal'c had provided, the General had ordered them to go back to P4X-639 to try to reason with Malakai, the one who had gotten them trapped in the loops to begin with.

Daniel wasn't sure that sending Jack O'Neill in to try to reason was a good idea, but not that he would tell Jack. Daniel shook his head, the man just didn't have much tact. Teal'c was too silent, but he too called it as it was and often without softening the blow. It left him and Sam to do most of the talking.

They quickly gated out, and Daniel got a look at the guy who caused all this to happen. After so many loops, it looked like he was going slightly crazy. He had erected a forcefield around the altar.

“But don't you see, the people who created this never got it to work,” Daniel tried. “I've read their words, and all it did was cause chaos between worlds.”

“Everytime that it loops around, it's connecting to 14 different Stargates,” Sam continued. “14 different worlds with billions of people between them are caught in this. Who knows what kind of affects it is having on us all.”

“You're lying,” Malakai responded. “You don't understand. None of you can understand what it is like having your wife die in your arms.”

“You're right,” Jack spoke up. “I don't know what it's like, but I do know what it is like loosing a son. Having his blood seep out all over you while you try so hard to keep him alive. I would love to see him again, but not like this. Not with the lives of so many being in the balance.”

“You... you wouldn't?” Malakai asked while the others looked at Jack in shock. Daniel was amazed at his speech.

“No,” Jack replied. “Each of us has lost someone we care about. We know about pain, we know about how hard it is to keep going, to keep living. But it's what we must do, and it's the actions that we do along the way that ensure we will see them again.”

Malakai broke down into tears but stopped the machine.

“Thank you,” Jack said before they turned around.

“Hey Faith, it's Daniel. Just wanted to know if you were free tonight?”
