The next morning dawned early for Xander. His night had been full of unpacking and re-arranging his room, and the common room. And while it had initially been amusing to open a box of lingerie, it was Willow’s! It was yet another change to get used to. A single Willow would likely want to find a special someone to spend romantic time with, as she didn’t tend to stay single too long. And that meant it was likely to be a strange girl around the apartment. Well, unless Willow really did find “people” attractive, not just the packages they come in. Not that he blamed her. Girls certainly had to be cuddlier. OK, time to change the thoughts before they devolved into daydreams. He started his morning exercise routine.
Yesterday had been both an opportunity for learning, as well as an eye-opening experience. And based on Willow actually having two margaritas with dinner last night, was for her also. He didn’t remember the last time that had happened. She had shared why, and he had to admit that it was definitely out of the expected, but he’d been able to wrap his brain around it. Now, Gibbs, on the other hand, was a different story. He was a hard man to read, but obviously had a mask covering a world of hurts, and strengths. Xander was looking forward to learning from him. Not to mention helping people again. Yeah, he wouldn’t get to save the world, probably, but he’d at least get to help find the bad guys who hurt the people who sacrificed so much to keep their friends and families safe. Xander went on to plan out his day, and the random things that had to go together. Breakfast, snacks, lunches, dinner plans. Hmm, crock pot; that could work. After finishing his shower, he tossed the package of pre-cooked pork in, along with a decent helping of barbeque sauce. Yeah, it wouldn’t be Willow’s favorite, but she’d appreciate the effort. And LEFTOVERS mmm. He’d just have to make sure tonight’s salad was impressive. He was tossing the lunches together, as Willow left her “suite”
“Xander! You dork! It was my turn to make lunches today! How dare you!” Her already good morning was getting better by the second “I am going to do my part around here, Mister, you already do so much for me!”
“Wills, I’ll tell you what; you spring for coffee, and we’ll call it even, for today. In fact, that sounds like a good trade, whoever gets to the lunches first doesn’t have to pay for the first cup of coffee!”
“Let’s go, Willow”
The ride into work was busy, uneventful, and filled with tasty chocolaty-goodness. The coffee stand even had this oatmeal stuff that ended up being better than expected. The soon-to-be routine security checkpoints were monotonous, but uneventful.
They entered the office in enough time to get their gear stowed and ready for whatever the day threw at them.
And I thougt that even a run-of-the-mill morning was more attention than I have given this story in QUITE some time, so I hope you like it!
