New Slayer (Read the chapter)

“... despite the many dangers they face on a regular basis, many of the girls feel that the increased abilities they receive are worth the risk, and more than repays them for their dedication to the cause.” Giles paused for the latest of the new Slayers to gather her thoughts.

“Increased abilities?” The blonde’s tone was carefully neutral; her face almost expressionless with perhaps the barest hint of scepticism.

“Yes, as I said before, a Slayer has the strength to perform feats well beyond those of other women – even most demons. She also has the agility and grace associated with the most accomplished martial artists. As for speed, many of the girls find it quicker to run into town for errands than drive.” Stamina was usually skipped over these days – and Faith was no longer allowed to participate in these inductions.

“Great.” There was no mistaking it now, their newest recruit was definitely unhappy about something. “You don’t watch the news much, do you?”

“Not as much as I should, no. Was there something in particular that I missed?”

Sighing, Kara Zor-El shook her head in disbelief.
“Until this morning, I could do better than all that - and fly, too.”

A/N: Usually in stories, becoming a Slayer scales your capabilities. I just had the thought: what if they were adjusted to a fixed level?
Ah, the wonderful world of insomnia-driven speculation...
